AMS.EXE expired?

I flashed an alpinemss tune a few months ago. When I tried to run AMS.EXE on my laptop it says the version expired. I can't flash to a different tune or back to stock. Has anyone else had the same problem?

Alex will
Send you a link with a newer version.
Just ask him.

I am not sure what happens should Alex decide to stop providing the tunes?

For now just ask Alex for the new(er) version of the software. Newer in terms of expiration date.
Not sure if anything would change on the software itself.
He usually responds right away.

Rainer.

the AMS software license expired, if you look when you open it, there's a date, just ask Alex and he'll send you a new link. I believe he renews it every 6 or 12 months, it's no biggie.

The link I provide you guys originally when you tuned the vehicle will always have the latest version. You can either email me ask for the newest version or just refer back to your original email.

I've been here for 11 years and I am not going anywhere for at least another 20. If something was to happen to me someone will take over until I'm back.

What's the best method to switch to E85?

1) Flash E85 map as soon as the tank is filled with E85? I'm assuming the engine will run like crap until the last of the gas in the lines is used up?

2) Fill tank with E85, run engine until remaining gas in lines it used up (I assume at this point it'll start running like crap), shut down and flash E85 map?

Did the stage 1 last night.. Do I need to do anything to engage the rev-limiter when cold option? I didnt see it listed as an "option" on the list.. so I assumed it was in the base flash file. Dropping my car off tomorrow morning for a week of body work and would like to have that if possible.

If you got cold start delete, that includes cold start rev protection. If you want to keep cold start but want cold start rev protection, just add "cold start rev protection" to your map options.
If I was dropping off my car, I'd flash the full-on "valet mode" map.

No problem. As far as I know, all options except the cold start rev limit are listed on the website. My first map request was:

93 octane stage 1
Servotronics
Top speed limiter removal
Cold start rev limit protection

Does anyone know the exact tuning capabilities he offers for our E9x M3's?

I know in the initial email, he lists what possible options are available.. however I see in above comments stating that you may add rev limit for cold starts and all that good jazz..

BUT, I would like to know the full list of actual possible options that are available..

in no way shape or form am I talking bad(just wanted to get that out there) I just want to know if there is more..

Alex is SUPERB... quick and easy, I ordered my Tune last week, got here 3 days ago, Installed and updated everything that needed to be done.. It truly was very easy.

Getting tunes is just as easy..

My car drives very smooth now, I got my tune at Stage 2, on 93 octane.. the car runs so much better now

Per instructions from Alex, i ran as close as i could to empty, went to fill up with e85 and then while at the gas station switched to the e85 map before starting the car again. worked perfect. only wish i had a map switcher like jb4 or cobb that can switch without a computer so i can switch between valet, 93, and e85.

Great, thanks. Do you remember how much "range" you had left?

Technically if it is true e85 you can have some fuel left over in the motor. Some pumps are putting out blends of as low as e75 and for this reason I suggest running it till 0 if you can.

I had about 20 miles left. i filled with e85, followed the tune instructions, flashed the tune and drove home. Car has been running fantastic ever ever since, i went on a short 260 mile trip couple days later. ran totally smooth. I am on my third tank so i am going to switch back to 93 after this tank is empty just to clean all the lines out per Alex's recommendation.

Whenever I switch to my e85 map I go to 0 or it'll show dash symbols fill up with the different fuel. I've been in 1 situation where no gas stations were close by and I was able to go 5-8 miles on 0 miles in my m3, you don't break down right when you hit 0

Buuuut you're probably shortening your fuel pump life seeing how the fuel is a lubricant as well

Yes correct but I don't do it often, only when switching between maps. I made the post just to let people know that you actually don't run out of gas when you hit 0 which it seems a few people think that happens

Thanks. I might just disconnect fuel line in engine bay and run fuel pump to really empty the system. Got a 5 gallon jerry can filled with E85 so I can fill and flash at home.

This is overkill. The e85 and what is leftover will mix and work it's way out on your first tank

is that all that's required to run a stock e92 m3 safely on e85 with Alex's tune?

LOL I just meant I might do that cause I've still got 3/4 tank of 93 and am too impatient.
