Where does the hose get routed? Does it require steering limiters?

The link I referenced shows an install and routing. It uses 2.5" ducting and is said not to rub with OEM wheels/tires, but everyone I know with the kit uses aftermarket wheels. Mine rubs ever so slightly at full lock (19" TE-37 SL, don't remember the specs, with stock-sized PSS). Since the ducting is malleable, you can flatten it out a bit, which helps. A really aggressive wheel/tire setup might require steering limiters. But really, when are we ever at full lock besides at slow, parking lot speeds?

Did you try http://www.socalsportscar.com/e90-e9...dk-detail.htm? That's the same price I paid at a different vendor in 2015. Didn't strike me at the time how ridiculously expensive it is for what you get...

Any lip or splitter on your car at present? Stock front undertray or one of various the aluminum replacements?

Since adding steering limiters (after reconfiguring things post Hard Motorsport Clubsport debacle) my 3" hose has stayed in good condition with it zip tied to the strut, control arm, and along the frame rail until it passes through a cut-out in the front fender liner. Prior to steering limiters, the hose would get torn up over time, which led to trying that Hard Motorsport kit.

Armed with that knowledge, you just need a backing plate and some form of inlet.

The Hard Motorsport backing plate is fine with some trimming on my 380mm ST60. If you want what's probably the best and don't mind the cost and extra labor removing the hub, you could look at the BimmerWorld CF option.

Otherwise, with no lip and the stock undertray you can buy ducts that will fit the felt blocks on the left and right and run the hose to those. Adding a ducted splitter or lip is the cleanest. I have a large unducted splitter (ah, regrets) and have APR CF NACA ducts in the flat underpanel (yes I know this is a high velo low pressure area, which isn't optimal).

i'm not sure where they plan on you using those huge duct intakes, but it looks like they expect you to mount them in the two side bumper inlets, which is not ideal.

I use the Hard backing plates. To me they work well, really well for the price relative to other options. I use a GT4 front splitter for the brake ducting and then attached to the Hard backing plates. So far no complaints, they just work well. For a street car the hose could be intrusive, but for track application they work perfectly.

I agree - less cooling is not cool. I'm looking into using 2.5" hose with NACA ducts instead mounted flush with the flat Mporium metal underbelly, with a metal mesh to catch debris, but need to check for clearance before buying. Ate a little grass at my last HDPE and don't want to replace fragile stock felt underbelly.

This is on a Z4M Coupe but figured I'd contribute since this is my exact setup using the same NACA ducts.

Note: Since this picture was taken, we've also added some stall strips to force air into the ducts. Hope this helps!

Since this thread soldiers on I'd thought I'd add something. A few years ago I shared my GT4 lip with Bimmer world carbon backing plates and 3" brake ducts. The reason for 3" is that's the size of the inlets on the backing plates. BW may have changed this but I'm not sure. Seems like the most common is 2.5"-2.75" (the kit on my F80 is 2.75")

The 3" hoses when routed will contact the inside of the wheel at full lock. I run 18X11 square with 305 tires square. It only contacts at full lock which is really only when I'm crawling in the paddock. Another E92 owner I know runs steering limiters but he wasn't able to recover a big slide because of the reduced steering so I was out on that. I'd rather tear up cheap replaceable ducts than possibly damage the car.

I recently switched to an aluminum step down reducer so I can run 2.75" hoses on both cars and increase the clearance. I still replace the hoses about once a year. I also added an aluminum union so I only have to replace the section that always gets damaged. No more removing the front bumper every time I need to replace the ducts.

I will be installing the deansbimmer/mporium aluminum undertray that I'll likely have to notch for my duct routing. But I'm due for hoses again so I'll try to grab pics then.

This is how I routed (Coulter actually) the 2.5" Cantrell kit with Deansbimmer's undertray. I still need to add some sort of material to divert more air into the opening as it sits at a bit of an angle.
