Unhappy Rear Differential Remount & Rear axle shaft broken

Hi y'all.
I have a 2009 E92 M3 6MT, i found the rear differential of my car was slanted, maybe bumped somewhere. But the differential itself works good right now, it just slanted. Also because of the differential slanted, my rear right axle shaft broken. I sent my car to a performance shop and they quote $850 for remount the differential(Only labor), $800 for remove and replace the rear right axle shaft(Only labor). I think they overcharged me? Right?

Lucky you caught the broken diff bolt in time to fix. It would have soon done a lot more damage. $1600 for labor to replace an axle and the diff bushings might be in the ballpark in areas with $200+/hr labor rates.

I am assuming your diff moved because one of the bolts holding it broke. How else could it move? I suppose a bushing could have failed, but in the 10 years I have been on this forum, no one has reported that happening but a few have reported broken diff mounting bolts.

What part of TX are you in? That labor doesn't sound too crazy.

change the diff bushings or it will break again.

also, removing the axle is a bit of overlapping labor shared with removing and reinstalling the differential.
