E90 inner tail light bulb? LCI
Anyone have a part number for the inner tail light (trunk section) mine went out today, And possibly a DIY? It's the light right beneath the reverse light. Is this just a normal bulb or is it an LED? I'm pretty sure only the outer light assembly is LED but not sure. Anyways, I tried searching but couldn't find anything.
Thanks in advance! |

Why don't you remove it and check? It was a normal bulb from autozone

Update: looks like the inner light flickers a bit before going completely dead... seems odd maybe a loose connection I'm guessing? |

They'd rather spend 5 minutes posting online, than 1 minute checking for themselves.

At the end of the day I'm going to open up my tail light assembly and see what's going on, but in the meantime I figured I could get some decent human beings on the forums to point me in the right direction prior to it. Why does it pain you so much to help others out and share the "wisdom" you have. I mean you are such a "man" right? Spread the manliness brother |

if the bars arent working you need to replace
The light below the reverse lights are the rear fog lights. Its a normal bulb.

Same thing happened to my E83 a few years ago. Would intermittently flicker or dim then go out. Dealer said it's a common issue and the entire inner assembly has to be replaced since it's LED. FWIW, I've seen other E83 and E90 around town with the same issue.
I never did anything about it and it seems to be working the last few times I checked it. Might be worth it to take it apart to see if anything is loose from closing the trunk over time. |

Most commonly it is the circuit board on the side of the housing. Gets corrosion on it from moisture getting past the housing seal. It could be a bad solder joint, or if you get lucky, just loose at the harness plug.

Had the same issue, OP. Would light up periodically at best. Replaced the whole housing from ECS...it's not LED, but comes preloaded with new bulbs. Easy swap...remove the trunk lid liner by prying out the plastic retention clips and you'll have access to it. Note the part # is side specific.
