Question Speed Cloth

I have cloth seats in my E46 M3 and love it.
I searched and searched. Has anyone seen photos of the speed cloth interior ?

Wow...have to admit this is new information for me.

I have always liked the cloth interiors that I have seen in E36 M3's. Especially in the E36 M3 LTW's.

I did a search and saw that there is some speculation on cloth being the base models seats and leather being an option. If this is the case I may just take the cloth/leather combo seats. I assume I would be givving up heated seats though? Oh...talk about easier to maintain. Too bad the bolsters arent cloth, they will probably recieve the most wear anyway.

So, one has to order the cloth seats instead of the standard leather seats then? And, I am assuming there is no discount or anything? I can't imagine the base car coming standard with cloth seats and leather seats being an option in the US, but I guess it is possible.

Didn't the canadian option sheet show that leather is an option??? I remember being pretty pissed off about this.

Yeah, you are right. I just checked. From the Canadian ordering guide:

"Standard seats = cloth mid-section, with leather bolsters."

http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...light=canadian

Leather is optional. I think that is over the top for a car that will cost $55k+.

Cloth was standard on the '01 E46 M3; Nappa leather was part of the $3,100 Luxury Package. Black cloth was standard, but there was also a patterned MCloth (Alcantara) option. BMWUSA may well make leather an option to hold down the base price.

Yup, that is definetly over the top. The car better come in under 60k if cloth is gonna be standard. At this point I'll be suprised if power windows and doors are standard!

Thanks for the info. Were power seats standard in 01?

I'd say it'd better come in under $57k if cloth is standard. They are probably doing this to keep the base price down like Greg was saying. This most likely would mean navigation would be optional as well, which is great news for me because I don't want it...

No. Power seats were never standard on the E46 M3. Although they will be on the E92.

Pity these seats don't have suede bolsters, like the standard E36 Vaders. I'm hoping to get two of those for the front of my 320i.

If leather is going to be an option I think Id save the cash and stay with the cloth. My only concern would be resale value. Who thinks this will effect resale?

I'd say this is one option that would have an impact on resale. Then, there are always people who have different tastes. However, the car would not be as liquid as it would be with leather, and it would take much longer to get rid of. Not sure that you'd save a ton of money either buy not ordering leather since the clotch seats are not all cloth...BMW's pitch is that clotch surfaces keep you more pinned during hard cornering and so on I think.

I believe power seats were also part of the Luxury Package; I know for sure the memory feature was.

I agree. Cloth is actually more comfortable (especially at temperature extremes), wears well and is not a slippery, but most people in the US equate leather with upscale cars.
