found out differential oil leak...anybody have same issue?

it's my first time I have this problem. only passenger side seems leak,driver side looks fine
it doesn't look that bad, but I made schedule to dealer for next week.
I found it out while I install akra slip-on.
anybody have same experiences?
should I worry about my aftermarket exhaust?
is it going to okay drive? it's my dd. I make about 20miles trip everyday.

From your pic. it looks like the seal for your axle is damaged and thus, causing the leak. Should be covered under warranty. That is not normal.

Unless you want to chance a castrophic failure of the drivetrain.

Do NOT take losing oil out of the diff lightly..get it serviced ASAP..

I didn't want to drive up seattle...so I made schedule at bmw fife....
I was gonna wait till 30k service....i have 3000 mile left....I might just ask them to do 30k service when I get there...
no I didn't do any fluid change!!

I had mine fixed a while ago. Exact same problem.

LSDs have more wear and tear, then open diffs..it would be interesting to know if people with these failures did the 1200 mile service on time..which includes flushing the LSD oil..going forward this is something I am doing regardless if the dealer covers it or not

LSD necessitates regular gear oil changes.

It's not related to the LSD. It's a failure of the output shaft seal.

Cannot overfill the diff with the car flat. As it was mentioned, it's probably a bad seal. But I wouldn't rule out a leak (tech spraying oil while removing gun) during an oil change, or that a tech forgot it's an M3 and put 75/90 oil, rather than the proper (and heavier) 75/140. I'd personally clean everything real well, and change the oil myself and see what happens. Well worth the try in order to avoid a dealer messing with your car. And yes, start by removing the fill plug and see where the fluid level is. You don't want to run it with low oil. Good luck.
