It's hard to describe why Malek has a following to others that haven't met him.
He's a little dry at first and sometimes hard to get scheduled. Once he warms up a bit he's a wealth of knowledge.
His car is just on another level. It's the highest power n/a s65 that I know of. This has been debated before, but he is reserved and just isn't interested in internet arguments. Just a solid dude, and trustworthy. Very clean shop and works on my car with the care that I would work on my car with (probably better). Malek doesn't claim anything. All the talk about him being the master or whatever is how people tend to regard him based on his following.

So when he produces a couple of metal tubes that go under these cars that have been known to make more power than other xpipes and only come up for sale once every few years, people tend to notice.
The only reason this xpipe isn't in my garage right now is my wife is pissed there are car parts all over the place at home and she knows as i strip it, there will be even more parts around.

I'm sure the bureau of mastery will be coming to punish me for my discretionary appointment of Malek any moment now.

Words have meaning, you're right. When you come in and ask about someone and then say they're "just" [fill in with something very reductive and preconceived about their profession], you are the rude one. I wasn't even the first to point out your attitude.

That's fair.

We both know that isn't going to happen haha, but asking 5k for an x-pipe is in line with full supercharger kits. The order of magnitude here speaks for itself in terms of reasonability/efficiency.

I'm not saying it's not a rare/highly effective piece, I am saying that 5k is a bit much, EVEN for such a powerful mod.

I don't think anyone here would trade a single x-pipe for a full supercharger kit.

Either way, happy to follow along for some typical forum drama.

If you had the MRF rear section I would wager you would get close to the 5K number. When this x-pipe came out it was a great design, made good power and sounded different (when paired with their muffler section). Now there are plenty of forwardly placed x-pipes so other than the rarity there really isn't much that's special about it.

But hell maybe you'll get lucky.

Superchargers are great besides the extra weight on the front, heat soaking, and strain they put on the motor. Besides this x-pipe, there's no other way to get the mid range punch. On track (and after two laps), a supercharged car couldn't pull away from mine.

I hear what you're saying though. If it's too expensive, don't buy it. I forgot bimmerpost has the most vocal pricing committee on the internet.

Won't knock the hustle, but the cost benefit analysis in this case doesn't work in your favor.

Expensive is a relative term, i'm sure you understand. I'll be on the look out for a more reasonably priced one to price match you though

I didn't realize dynos were particular to who was driving, or whether that person was known by a certain bimmerpost commenter…

My ask might not seem so insane if you read the post, linked threads, and other comments. My gosh, I couldn't compete with this caliber of trolling if I tried.

Do I need to get a special tune for this x-pipe? Or will my BPM Stage 2 work?

I ran one with a BPM stage 2 tune with no problems.

I feel bad monkeying up this guys for sale thread so this will be my last post but I'm curious how much more power this would make over a Bimmerworld Xpipe for $1099. Is the MRF pipe titanium at least?

MRF clearly needs to put these back in production for everyone else outside of california if he really did stop production because it was too difficult to produce with CARB certification or whatever you guys need out there.

I'll take your bet and raise to any number of laps that your car will never pull away from mine. I'll also add to the wager of your car vs. mine and you can keep your 1k x pipe to recoup the losses of the value of your car as mine runs off into the distance.

I like how this man really thinks supercharger design hasn't improved and accounted for higher cooling needs over the years.

These cars are already heavy, I think we all knew that going into this.

Wow $5k for an x pipe. The e9x platform is getting too rich for me. Time to switch to something cheaper. Bye BMW, hello Ferrari 😂
