Yes, it's a superb machine no doubt and not taking away from anyone's personal choices. Just want to celebrate the few and rare individuals with the rarest of E90 M3s and those are the MT, slicktop, no nav, manual seat, no power folding mirror ones.

As far as those that have Bluetooth, leather, heated seats etc, that's still not a big deal as they don't really add weight but there is something extra cool about someone in this day and age saying...just make mine with a big V8, a stick between the seats and 4 of the ligthest wheels possible. Nothing else....period! : )

Those that did it that way were scoffed at by salespeople and others but they held their ground and ordered it the way the old school M3 guys would've wanted it. So they deserve some overdue credit. So well done unicorn owners!

Too many people replying to this thread with AW, Jet Black, SSII, etc. cars...I don't care what you're packaging/option configuration is, those colors will never equate to a unicorn, these are mass produced cars, especially the E92.

Where are the BMW Individual cars? Limerock's? Frozen colored cars? Those are true unicorns...IMO.

They are rock chipped; at least the ones I have seen in person and hardly a car that I would be interested in buying second hand. Never mind as an elusive "unicorn".

Now my humble non-Individual M3 happens to be a 1 of 1 among the 2012 MY E92M3s to grace the North American continent. By the way, it isn't rocked chipped at 46k miles.

Your opinion noted. Thank you.
Here is mine:

The no option cars with MT and speed cloth are the rarest of all. Part of why I started this thread is to see how many are out there. It would be a pretty safe bet to say that there are less zero option M3s in any color than there are Lime Rocks or frozen cars. Some of which are still laden with weight adding functions so aside from color, they are not really that special to some of us that love the lighter, more focused versions of each generation. I know of only two or three like these in the country. There might be 10 E90 no option M3s in the entire country!

A no option car, whether you appreciate it or not, is the lightest iteration of the e90 M3 imported into the US. Can the lime rock say that?

So I use unicorn because I have never actually seen a no option E90 M3 in the flesh. I only saw one in an autotrader post and one posted here.

Like a unicorn that I can see pictures of but have never actually seen one in person. Lime Rocks, Jahres....seen several of them.

I don't know. Maybe it's me, but paying $5,000 to get the special order paint color somehow lessens the unicorn appeal to me. Couldn't we all pay the $5,000 for the special paint and there would be 'rare' cars all over the place? Somehow paying for paint rarity doesn't make it anymore appealing to me than the standard issue black.

I feel this is akin to the people who post a 'super rare' imported car from Europe on craigslist or elsewhere. Of course it's rare. Of course it's a unicorn, it was never sold in the United States.

I've mentioned before, bone-stock M3s in the next few years will be the cars that demand attention first.

This thread makes me regret not being patient waiting for a near zero option car. I hate looking at the grotesque tumor in the center of my dash. What a design fail by BMW.

Most ZERO option car do not sell very fast...there was one on Autotrader for over a year, I don't know if it sold or the guy kept it or traded it in. There are still a few for sale now and not moving. The one on Autotrader was listed as HIGHLY DESIRABLE ZERO OPTION CAR....and it just sat there.

I personally think having a rare color combo is a unicorn, which is why I own one. I just really like rare colors in cars, always have. To each their own though. I have no qualms with someone preferring a black 6MT with 0 options.

Pretty car! When and if you sell it, would you ask for more because of the color? Do you feel someone would give you an extra couple thousand because it's a rare color on a relatively common E92 M3, other modifications not withstanding?

Personally, I'm not concerned about saving 60 pounds between a loaded m3 versus a low option car. It's the aesthetics!

The idrive/Nav display is simply ugly! I also have a single hump dash 335i and it looks 100x better than my m3. The single hump dash layout is simplistic and timeless.

That's the point! People that buy them are buying them out of passion not Resale value! They are individuals uninhibited by dogma that don't want to dilute their cars. That is why we celebrate them here for their true individuality and courage to go against conventional ordering where things like resale value make for watered down combinations. Yes they don't sell on lots because there are very few that appreciate a focused car these days. They want an iPhone on rubber band tires. There is nothing special about a loaded car. If you like them. That is awesome!!!! But nothing special. They are a dime a dozen and the no hump dash is beautiful, clean and timeless.

The rare color is cool and somewhat special IMHO but has little substance compared tom The lighter no option cars do which have other benefits like lighter weight nicer dash and grippier seats. Now a no option car with an individual color would be the ultimate unicorn!!! That would be insanely badass. Anyone know of one of those?

Yes. You are the 99% we are just celebrating the 1% here. Not against you just celebrating the performance individualists.

I am not saying anything negative about the low option cars....just the fact that they are rare because no one ordered them and the ones for sale now sell very slow, meaning they are not desired by people with the money to buy one! The few that were ordered IMO was by someone wanting a NEW M3 as cheaply as they could buy one, not out of passion. If that was the case they would NEVER be for sale. Lets see yours!
