Bird crap!!!! FML
Hey guys,
Just wanted to put this one out there. DO NOT LEAVE BIRD CRAP SITTING ON YOUR M! I've read that bird crap has some kind of acid that isn't really good on paint. This morning I noticed a few spots of it on my E92 with carbon fiber roof. I left it there for a few hours. After I washed the car, I noticed a few spots where the crap was. Looks like dried water stained, though I spraying it with detailing spay but didn't come out. I'm guessing I have to use compound, polish and then wax on this one. Has anyone else experienced this one? |

Our tripple polish can easily knock off the remaining staining on the CF roof. Have a look at hard water stains removed from just a hand application...

2 fat purple bird bombs just last week on my CF roof.. had been baking in the sun..soaked with window cleaner..got em off w/o scratching the paint (birds eat stones and pebbles off the ground)..but the etch marks were not coming out had to compound then polish it out.

Bird crap etching starts on contact and stops when the crap is dry. If the surface is hot it just compound the issue as the paint will expand and contract around the crap. Hopefully the etching is not too deep and it will polish out. My Flex Random Orbital gets out Bird Shit marks pretty easy. Always remove Bird Crap as soon as it is discovered.

Keep a tiny spray bottle of Girots Speed Shine with a micro fiber cloth. Saturate the area and gently wipe it off.

You never want to wipe..you want to soak until soft and then dab and lift..been there thats how you get scratches..the etch mark is literally a crap shoot ..as you said depending on how long its on there

Actually you never want to make contact with car using anything because when you do it you can potentially introduce swirls. Wipe / Dab whatever just use common sense when removing the contaminants because anything that comes between your cloth and the paint surface is a scratching agent.

If you use clean MF rags on a clean car you will never introduce swirling...another step is constantly looking at your MF rag for contaminants.. |

Really? Both methods still suck. One method gentle as it may be your pushing the cantaminants straight down hoping to absorb it on a cloth/towel. The other, you are pushing and absorbing them across the surface. Same crap...no pun intended.

Any type of mild polish should remove bird poop stains. Get as much off as u can without wiping then apply the polish to a microfiber towel or applicator, rub the polish in to the cloth to make it soft and apply in a circular motion. I have jet black and have never had swirling using this technique. Just make sure the cloth is really soft before applying.
