The JP Marketing cage offered through Bimmerworld or directly via JP can be designed to accommodate loading wheels into the rear seat from the trunk. Also it's a 6pt cage with superior anchors vs the floor mounted options.

it gets complicated with fixed back seats or sliding seats with harnesses. how do you plan on running the car?
with my e92's current setup with no rear seats/divider and fixed back front seats, its probably possible to feed two wheels in through the trunk to the rear seat area, but it would probably be a huge pain in the ass.

rear seats are out
swapped stocks for sportsters. tempted to get a basket for my roof rack and put 2 ontop and 2 in the boot to accommodate a cage.

a roof rack is a great solution. i had an aluminum basket made specifically for carrying two tires, and its well within bmw's 120lb (if i remember correctly) weight limit. i had it built while on the car to keep the curvature of the rack correct. this way, its just four bolts to take out and i can lift the rack off by myself easily. no adjusting or fuss. on and off in a few minutes.
