Replaced this with a new piece today. The soft touch is good on the upper surfaces but the two outer lower corners on the top spokes have some wear. It's smooth and nothing has peeled since I bought the car, so might be an upgrade if yours is in real bad shape.

In full disclosure the M badge has been removed and the badge I got with my "new" part was most likely a knockoff. You can see in the closeup it's yellowed slightly. You can replace this with your existing sticker or a new one if you wish. Asking $30+ S&H OBO.

I need to redo the trim on my door panels. What is the rubberized BMW spray you are using? I would like to buy some from some where.

Edit: I've ordered up a can of ColorBond LVP 258 BMW Black. According to those that have used this, this is an exact color match without the rubber texture.
Colorbond LVP on Amazon

Thanks!

This looks pretty impressive. I might have to add that to my shop.

What I've used before is 3M trim paint. I got the tip from a BMW bodyshop specialist that refinished my steering wheel trim that had started to peel. She did it right there in front of me and blended it perfectly. I was shocked to see the results. Since then, I've done it several times for friends and family with similar results.

Do you have a link to that product? My door panel has some complete peeling to the plastic on the soft touch and I watched a video showing that it's impossible to remove because it's part of the whole door card. I contemplated just stripping the whole piece but have just left it for now.

It can be done. Not worth it to me but it can be done.

Yeah this was the video I saw. Drilling out the heat stakes and epoxying the part back together makes me cringe. I can just picture one day going to pull the door closed and having it fly off and shoot across the car.

Was debating if there was a spray that was a close match to OEM (because my window switch is perfect) enough that I could maybe strip then mask and spray the handle without disassembling the whole thing.

I did my driver and passenger doors this weekend. Stripping off the black rubber OEM coating is a pain in the @$$. I never found a 'good' method, just lots of elbow grease.

I painted the upper interior door strip (unfortunately it doesn't come off the door panel), the handle which I also left it in the car (wasn't willing to drill out the plastic welds in the door card) and the driver's window/mirror switch bezel (which comes out easily). Surface prep is key, but once done, and you mask off and cover everything else on the door and the entire side of your car (so you don't get any over spray anywhere), you can readily paint the parts with the Colorbond 258 BMW black spray paint. It looks great when done (I can share some pics if you like). I spent a day and half to do both doors, with the first full day on the driver's door. The passenger door was easy after doing the driver's side.
