What's the optimal lease length if I want to end my new lease as the F30 arrives?

I'm about to sign a lease for a new E90 M3. Based on past experiences, there will be no MY14 M3 (no MY00, no MY07). So, if I wanted to lease my car until the F30 M3 came out, I'd have to run a 3 year to end up the closest, correct? Otherwise, a 2 year may end up short and I won't really be able to get into any M3 for a while until it's out.

What's everyone else doing? Any thoughts?

Sounds about right but we don't know for sure. I think you are okay with 3 years leasing because even if it comes out in 2014, you can still wait for a few months and lease it or wait for a year and get it, no big deal...

Get a 3 year and wait for the first people that get one to bitch about the F30 only being DCT and still suffering from the HPFP problems that have plagued the 335i and 135i.
Hopefully the above will not be the first feedback that we hear on the next M3. I have the same dilemma as you and opted for a 3year lease to be delivered at the end of this month. If they are thinking that everyone only wants the gimmicky, more profitable DCT with its lag problems, Bmw will lose many customers by not offering a manual. If Bmw cheaps out and sticks us with the same defective HPFP that is in the 335i, which by the way has been replaced 3 times on mine they will lose more customers. They will circumvent fixing the issue like they did with the 335i and 135i by offering a 100,000 mile warranty on the part after the NHTSA came down on them.
To sum it up, a 3 year lease at this point will have you in the last of the v8 M3's for the forseeable future anyways. It will also give you a choice as to whether you want to roll the dice on the new f30 based off the owners feedback in 2014.

From others feedback I've heard the lag is a thing of the past! I should know soon...

Hopefully. I would still like to be able to choose between a 6mt and DCT when the next M3 shows up. By the way, I hope the DCT treats you well.
