Typical Vette owner. Their head is so far up their ass, it's already in the ass of the car in front of them...

The fact that it was a Vette and slid "under" the truck is probably all that kept the guy from certain death!!!

I've seen very similar pictures with corvettes involved. I've read similar threads about this matter and the culprit is usually big horsepower cars passing in the right lane and coming up on a big rig unexpectedly perhaps due to a blind turn, slowed traffic or something of that nature.

Corvettes haven't been made out of fiberglass since C4, depending on where your talking about the Z has either carbon fiber or sheet molded composite body panels.

I honestly thought it was just a problem with the car itself. I saw a 30 minute compilation of sports car crashes (don't laugh), and noticed that most of the clips involved corvettes slipping out and crashing into something. I would think a Viper is more likely to do something like that because of its lack of electronic stability, but I guess not. There was only one clip of a Viper showing an idiot drive into the back of a van.

I'm glad the driver is okay, but it doesn't mention in the article that he was driving recklessly or tailgating the truck. The article just says trucks need some kind of guard to protect drivers. The truck isn't at fault - the Corvette driver is!

I'm already preparing to get flamed - but I've never come close to smashing into a truck. They are pretty big. Kinda hard to miss (just don't tell that to the Z06 driver).

There actually is something that kept him from going all the way under. If you look close you will see the truck has a DOT bumper. The car disintegrated around it. If that truck didn't have that bumper the car would have gone all the way through the back tires!

That's what I was gonna say.

On a side note, I guess this would advocate for manual seats. Just dump that seat back before impact and you're good. Not that it matters with our cars, but I'm not sure how I would duck that. Even though the article says the driver ducked, I dunno about that.

He's lucky and I'm glad he's alive, but he was very likely driving like a jackass and the accident is almost certainly his fault. There's no excuse for smashing into another car. If you run into another car you're either driving too fast, tailgating, or both.
