Took Delivery Today of melbourne red coupe

I called up my sales rep. at my local dealer yesterday and asked if they had an M3 Coupe available. When I stopped by they had a red/tan in the showroom. While I was still trying to decide, a red/black one showed up on the truck and I was able to get it. I took delivery today. My wife got it for me.

Here are pictures. It was raining all day and the weather was miserable. A full detail will be done on Friday once the sun comes out so I will take more pictures then.

Yeah

Made the decision yesterday, told them I wanted it today with tinting (as dark as possible in TX) with the alarm etc. ///M floor mats are on order. Picked it up at Autobahn in Fort Worth (Joe Levine).

Did the MR just do it for you? I hear it is much better in person. Not sure if you have followed it online.

Definitely! She doesn't have a sister, though. Sorry to disappoint Cosmos.

I love the MR and I've always been partial to red on M cars. My first car was an early M Roadster in imola red (z3 body). My wife and I had an E46 M3 in imola red for a while but she did not like the SMG. So we're really happy now with the manual transmission. At first we weren't sure if the MR would be as pretty as imola. In the dealership showroom the MR looked brighter, maybe even with a hint of orange, or just definitely brighter than we remembered imola being. However, once it was in a different area with different lighting (while being prepped) and then later when it was outside, it looked totally different--much darker but still brighter overall than imola. Outside you can definitely see the metallic paint. In the showroom it almost looked flat. I'm not a lighting expert but those are my observations.

So, yes, I love the red. And if anyone is partial or biased to imola, you need to check out MR both inside and outside a dealership to really give it a fair shake. Also, for comparison with another M color (not sure of the name), there was an '08 M6 coupe parked in the showroom (with the current red color on the M6) next to an MR M3 and of the two, I personally liked the MR better. Much closer to imola but different. I guess I would say better. But not too dark. The M6 red was just a little too dark for me for comparison.

I am completely happy with the car. It had 4 miles when I drove off and it has 29 now. Makes me want to take a road trip.

If anyone has any other questions, just let me know. I love the interior and I also think the 6-speed is fabulous--really smooth, very easy to drive. It's what a 6 speed should be. It's been too long since my M Roadster to compare. The car it reminds me of the most is the previous body M5.

Your car looks beautiful! MR was the only other color that I considered. I love my AW, but I think I would have been equally as happy with red. Make sure and post more pics once the weather clears up!

From the first picture it looks like bamboo on the inside. I thought you said you ended up with the black.
Also, what is the maximum tint for Texas? Is it 25% or 35%?

That looks sharp! Red is really growing on me. The tint sure helps bring out the sleekness of the coupe. Have fun getting lustful stares.

Re

It was MSRP. Thank you everyone for all of the compliments! It's only the second day and the car is awesome!

Yonkers--it was wet and rainy and in the delivery area they have some interesting lighting so that throws the colors. It is red/black with the aluminum trim.

The detail is on Friday so Friday or Saturday I will take some more pictures and then post them for everyone to see.

I haven't really driven it anywhere yet, but once I do I'm sure people will do some double-takes. My understanding is that Autobahn has delivered one other car. It was AW, not sure about the interior color. I heard one dealer in Dallas is doing highest bid over $10k over sticker. When I was last at Autobahn they had a silver/red sedan in the showroom.
