Oil was collected Mid-Stream, not from pan.

But sample was taken as soon as drain cap was removed-

It's probably fine. You just don't want to get it right at the very end when any particulate matter that has settled to the bottom of the pan might be draining.

Oil's shelf life is so ridiculously long (forever?) that it makes no difference when you send it in. It's not like anything is going to evaporate out of the oil.

Car had the 15k TWS changes up until I bought it with 45k on the clock. I'm going for a 7.5k interval with Mobil 1 0w40, but clearly the TWS works well and could easily go to 9 or 10k between changes, perhaps further.

Looks like I've got a good one!

^ dparm, since the TWS seems to be working quite well why the switch to 0w40?

Because M1 0w40 will probably work even better.

Seriously, the car does drive much better with it.

And not just what dparm said, but that's not guaranteed that it's going to stay that way. Could be even better with lighter oil in the long run depending on your situation

not saying youre wrong, but as stated by Billj747, my car is a 2011 and I had 33ppm of Lead.

I'll be changing my oil in the next couple of weeks (5k miles from last test). Hopefully the switch to 0w-40 and shorter intervals will help me even out my lead wear.

@dparm, another analysis with moly < 100, I see that value all over the place and even on shorter use intervals. I've not had one less than 140 or so. Nice levels btw.

I think it's possible that bmw used up whatever leftover inventory of leaded bearings they had and that this inventory lasted partway into 2011 production. I think that's why some 2011 cars have the leaded bearings and some have the unleaded ones.

Titanium is an additive used by Castrol. I believe they have a line called: "titanium" or something like that.

Correct, it's a newer type of additive. The level seems very high for TWS -- I wonder if it was topped off with something different.

It was last changed at the dealer, so I doubt it. I just changed it myself last weekend and filled with 9 TWS. So, I will send it in after another 4k miles or so and see how it compares.

My report - 2011 M3 - 49K miles - 4K on TWS

Here's my report for your review. The car is used mostly in highway driving with a few redline sprints. No track use...yet. I have since switched to Pennzoil Ultra 5W-40 Euro with Liqui Moly Ceratec for the winter. Let's see how that turns out.
