Hey guys I wanted to run this by you guys and see what you think... I got a oil analysis about roughly 10 months ago and I'm going to get another one in a few days... to me the levels all seem fine and presuming that my next analysis stays within the same levels do you guys think I should still go forward with rod bearing service? I am aware that my updated bearings for the 2010+ are made of different material aluminum/tin correct me if I'm wrong but if my aluminum and tin levels stay as low as they are now or atleast below universal averages do you think it's okay to keep my original bearings?
Any advice or insight would be appreciated. Thanks |

do the bearings just for the peace of mind. $2k is a lot better than $20k.
2011 is a problem year, my friend with a 2011 blew his motors twice.

"Newer factory bearings (2010.5 and later) are made from tin-aluminum, not lead-copper. Tin-aluminum bearings are 4-times harder on the surface than lead-copper bearings. This extra hardness shows signs of doing more damage to motors as there seems to be more bearing failures with 2010.5 and later vehicles. Tin-aluminum bearings also don't show the same signs of premature wear in Blackstone oil analysis due to lack of lead and copper."

My 2011 model year was built in 04 2010 iirc. It had older lead/copper bearings in it. Not sure exactly when the swap to tin/aluminum happened.
Regardless, the issue is not material as much as it is about probabilities and tolerance stacking. Look at the typical bearing photos coming out of S65 engines for evidence of this fundamental issue. $2k <<< $20k.
