Macht Schnell Wheel studs?
I finally installed a set of front and rear Wheel Studs from Macht Schnell, courtesy installed from Motorcepts.
Anyways, I was reading up on a few threads with some blox studs and the user said studs 'fail' over aggresive driving and the lugs strip and the wheels will fly off. It's one of those, one negative things clears 1000 positive things, and now when I drive the car, i get p***y-ed out. Aren't wheel studs for track? so technically, shouldn't that be more reliable?

You would be amazed at how many people over or under torque studs, and bolts. That is the number one mode of failure.
Dont worry , drive the car.

I went with the Turner ones combined with the R40 NeoChrome but the studs have some rust right on the tip tho they are supposed to be corrosion coated. Not sure if the MS studs are corrosion coated too.
Here is a link to the Turner ones... http://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-18...6-e46-e9x.aspx

I have the MS 45mm studs and the blue Blox open ended lugs. Ive had them on for about 3-4 weeks now and not a single issue. The first couple days I checked the lugs after every drive and were rock solid every time. I don't know if its in my mind, but i felt the car was more "solid" after i installed them... maybe my OEM bolts where getting worn... I did take my wheels off quite often.
My Forgestar F14's will be here Thursday so I will have some more pics with those babies instead of my 220's

I have no issues with corrosion on my MS studs.
Anyone have a solution for a wheel lock for studs? |

Thanks guys, I actually ordered a set of ECX Studs from European Auto Source. They said they used it on their cars and is the same distributor as the Muteki ones... The Blox ones are currently on backorder (gold), so Brian from EAS sent me these...

the 12mm x 1.5 thread is what you're looking for. I ordered the Macht Schnell ones from European Auto Source. Turner is a great company, but i've had previous issues with some turner products (the supposedly no rust, no stick spacers did rust and did stick).

How did you get the rust off the studs? Will wd40 work?

no, I ended up throwing out the Turner spacers, it was all rusted. The shop ended up cleaning the hubs for rust, installed new spacers and loctite the studs in.

I already ordered my studs from Apex. But after receiving them, I thought to myself what if the studs were installed with permanent lock-tite but the wheel stud snapped at a later time. Most vehicles have wheels stud that's pressed in that can be removed easily if broken but I would suspect it'll be quite hard removing a broken wheel stud that's been screwed in with permanent lock-tite.

I definitely agree with the above poster on not going cheap with these type of parts as it is a safety risk. Especially if you track due to the extreme stress you put on the wheels and areas around it.
Nway, I spoke to Turner about their bolts. My bolts do have some rust showing but it is just surface rust and not corrosion. We determined that the reason for the surface rust is due to the use of wheel cleaners like sonax, which Turner employees have also experienced. Btw, the Turner studs/bolts are made by ARP (http://arp-bolts.com/) so no concerns about the quality. Not sure who makes the MS ones Will be trying some WD40 to remove the rust spots.

Acidic wheel cleaners will also cause rust if used.
