Wish I’d stumbled across this thread sooner, been waiting 6 weeks for mine to arrive (all the way from Latvia of all places) only to find they are 330. Anyway, I had to do something as the hood was downright dangerous otherwise. I installed the new one on one side only, and it actually works pretty well. Doesn’t feel uneven going up & down. Seems like an ok temporary solution at least.

I also purchased the correct part number for the hood struts from ECS. Sent me the wrongs ones twice. Now I have 2 sets of 330N hood struts. I did tell them there is something wrong if my Invoice ticket says the right part number and they ship out the wrong item. I wish they would realize somethings wrong .

I have the 330 / regular 3 series ones on mine, and the hood just shoots up with too much force. I didn't know there was a difference. I paid 11-12 per shock. Stabilus / OE without the BMW badging.

Well, I just ordered the autohausaz.com struts as well. I will let you guys know if they are the correct ones or not. My hood almost gave me a concussion this evening changing out my spark plugs...

The more I play with my hood, the more I believe they are likely too strong. My old struts were 100% gone so I thought I was being overly sensitive to the new struts, they were stiff but quite manageable. I took one strut off and it opens/closes almost perfect. So this leads me to believe these are STILL the 330N strut even though they are not marked. I bit the bullet and bought the BMW marked M3 struts from FCP Euro. Luckily I only have $20-$30 in these current struts.

I got these ones in Alibaba, 220 N Custom Made work like a charm with the perfect force for the M3 Hood. All other ones are 330 N

You need to message when you place the order. There is a box in the shopping cart for instructions for the seller where you state you want the 220N option otherwise they will ship to you the 300N
