Good News.
A new harness AiM sent me worked like a charm. I had to rig a test. The GS screen updated it self for a new firmware and my page came up as expected. The GPS also connected. Car goes back to the shop Friday for reworking the install and adding pots. . . |

EVO5 installed and working
GS Display good GPS is good Potentiometers installed and report data Car is still at Autocouture so I can't take pictures yet The first harness was the culprit, second harness sent had a minor issue on one pot cable but it was fixed. The installation is a master piece and meets the car objective of been a stock looking interior as much as possible. From @Dogbone thread, we can see benefits to data logging an HPDE sessions. Only the next season will tell how truly is adding suspension travel into it. I am sure cost questions will come up. Let's just say it cost less then the amount spent on tires and track days. So from cost analysis perspective, if you do a TCO analysis, making each track day count more toward enjoying and progressing toward better driving thru data, the one can justify the cost. Pictures will be coming but have this: . The control shows: on/off switch for evo5 Reset button for the Voltfreak battery Female stereo for external microphone USB port for direct connnect to EVO5 and the hub for GS Display and AiM camera . . |

Quick Update,
The EVO5 is beautifully installed and now with off/on switch i can turn if on when ever I want, rather than on every time the car is on. The potentiometers are a bit more complicated. First the channel definition AiM told me to use was inverted. when the pot got longer, it shows less mm. A call to Aim revealed that if set not to auto calibrate mode, there is a option to "reverse" the reading. But you can only do that when live connecting to the unit. Another words, the reverse option is on the EVO5 itself, not in the config file. Another difficulty was one of the rear pots broke immediately after leaving the shop for unknown reason. The car is back at the shop to sort out the final settings for the pots. In the mean time, I am spending time learning the software by playing with it and watching learning videos on Youtube Aim Sports channel. The more I am exposed to the system and the software, the more I get excited about the possibilities. |

Here is a simple screen i programmed to show the car suspension in mm.
I also created 4 math channels that calculate each corner to show 0 mm. That screen shows me the movement of the suspension from stationary position. The picture shows the formula. The formula is not accurate because I reversed the direction of the Front Left Pot. The formula now should be "-34". but hopefully you get the idea. . . |

Regardless of the broken pot that was fixed with tape, the right side was not generating data. The Front left and Rear Left shows data as it should.
All of this is being sorted out at ACM this week and hopefully ready end of this week. . . |

I got the car back from ACM and it is just incredible. I now have a production car with the ability of a race car like logging. I love it.
Now it is time to put the installation behind me and fully focus in the data. So today I was driving around, looking at what my front and rear suspension is doing. Pretty quickly it was looking that the front and rear are not in sync in terms of stiffnes while the display was showing the rear is active reacting to road imperfections, the front was hardly moving. I adjusted both front and rear to a softer settings and took a test drive The rear was now moving a lot more and the front was more responsive. Then adjusted the rear to stiffer, and left the front "softer" Now the data was showing the rear moving less, and the front was still reacting Another test drive and the car felt closer to what the data was showing. Very happy with the system continuing learning the AiM software and discovering more as I go along. complicated but satisfying |

You could use these to clamp directly to the damper so they are linear. Just need to work out the top mount with a simple L bracket off the top hat. |

The Potentiometers project turns out to be a difficult challenge. Tom at ACM had to come up with few variations.
In the rear we finally have a solution using Paul's brackets and Tom's invention of a mounting bracket at the top of the shock. Public thank you to @tzanid0777 This will be tested at Lime Rock but at least it survived the ride home. Here is the current rear arrangements. . |
