Oil level sensor (2013 E93)
Only had the car for a week and a half and just checked the oil level last night and it says maxed (too full).
Took it into a local oil place I frequent with my other cars and they drained a little, drained a little and kept saying too full. Finally drained it all and there was less than the 9.3 quarts recommend. Yet sensor still showing full. Bad sensor or am I missing something? |

I had shops fill 8.25 LITERS and then I topped off as necessary after the oil indicator updated. The fill level indicator can indeed take a long time to update. Drive at least 5 miles, pull over on a level surface and let the engine idle, then have it measure the oil level. You might have to do that 2-3 times ( the measurement, not the 5 miles of driving) before anything updates. If you get it to the 3/4 mark, leave it alone at that point and wait until you get down to 1/4, or maybe 1/2 if you're going to the track.

BMW only recommends a special 10w-60 oil, most "local oil places" do not carry this oil so be careful with what you use.
