This was simply an exercise. It should be close. A couple points of estimate reasoning...

1. Extended Leather : EL is 50% more expensive than non-EL on the German website (hense $1450 x 1.5). And assuming the Novillo leather is similar to the 335i's Dakota leather.
2. 19" wheels : $1500 est. based off other wheel upgrades - 335i 19" style 230 for $1000 and X5 4.8i 20" style 214 for $950. High perf. tires should push the price from there.
3. Moonroof : $0 upgrade for the Coupe and maybe $1050 (E46 3-series price) on the sedan (since no standard CF roof on the E90).
4. Enhanced Premium Sound : taken from the M5.
5. Electronic Damping Control : this was a total guesstimate. There's no real previous point of reference that I know of in previous years.
6. ZTP Technology Package : Sum of the individual parts while assuming some small pkg disc.
.
Good work. I checked some of these against German and South African pricing (converted to dollars) and note the following:

- Leather, $1,450; Ger. price $2,664 (std. in SA)
- Extended leather, $2,175; avg. Ger. + SA price $4,100
- EDC, $1,200; avg. Ger. + SA price $2,470
- MDrive; Ger. price $625 (SA only in MDynamic pkg.)
- Navigation (pro), $2,100; avg. Ger. + SA price $3,360
- High End Audio, $700; avg. Ger. + SA price $2,340

I know it is not reliable to do a direct conversion, but looking at these I think the price for the Technology package may be quite a bit higher than you guess. Also the Premium package.

I note that adaptive headlights are standard in the US (good).

Hmm it would be interesting to do some conversions to find out how much cheaper US options are over Europe.. then maybe we can get a really good estimate on MSRP... maybe not...

Thanks Greg/Lucid. I agree on a few of your points after spending some more time on BMW.de.

*Any updated <estimate> prices were established using, what appears to be, a reasonably common conversion price of around ~82% of EUR (calc when we know a US price). I know its flawed, but with these few options we're guessing at, it provides the best guess right now.

- EDC will probably be a little higher. Calc. = $1575 US <updated>*
- MDrive will definitely carry a price. Calc. = $425 US <updated>*
- Technology Package - thats gunna be an expensive bugger! Guessing 10% package disc. <updated>*
- 19" wheels calc. out correctly at about $1550 (v. original est. of $1500) - so very close. <updated>*
- Navigation I would think, should be consistent with other 3-series NAV US pricing.
- Premium Package should be consistent with the 335i US pricing as well, unless the leather and trim materials are a higher quality, as it is an otherwise identical package.
- Enhanced Premium Sound (752) price came directly from the M5 & M6 option price on BMWUSA. What's interesting is, the German M3/M5/M6 price is 2100,00 EUR - but on USA site (M5/M6), its still $700 US. Perhaps the German base stereo isn't getting something the US base system gets, making their upgrade more expensive? <unchanged>
.

Good try but do your research. I would expand but alas this isn't a Toyota board.

REP you should revise some things for the US market as Pkg Only etc. Enhanced Audio is only available as part of the ZTP or with Nav, so $700 really doesn't apply. Just my 2 cents...good exercise though...

Anyone know what happened to the heads up display option? I opted for it when I put my deposit in with military sales. Of course I also opted for logic 7 for $1200.

Does anyone know the difference between 4BZ Titanium trim and 771 Titanium shadow trim and why both are standard? Most BMWs I've seen only have two trims specified - interior and exterior. I know that 760 Shadowline trim is the exterior trim. So why are there two others listed?

Just because it is standard in the 335i doesn't mean that Logic 7 will be standard in the M3. HK was not standard in the E46 M3, so I would not be surprised if the E92 doesn't have it either.

AFAIK, HiFi is the regular analog 10 Speaker system. The mere fact that the Enhanced audio system option is required when the Navigation option is chosen tells me that that Enhanced option is the Logic 7 (Top HiFi, digital), not the HiFi...

Where is blue-tooth?! If its standard and not in ZPP, then im def passing on the ZPP, and just getting Tech and maybe 19s.
Bluetooth is part of the Assist system, thus it is included in the Premium package or as stand alone option. It is not standard.

As far as I understand, Enhanced audio does not come with ZTP. I think you can add the enhanced audio only if you add ZTP or Nav.

I remember BMW saying that Logic7 would be standard and a HiFi 850 watts sound system would be optional.
Even now, it said on the letter sent to the dealers that all standard equipment will be similar to the 3 series coupe.

It is then confusing of BMW the use now of "HiFi" to define Logic 7, when it is Top HiFi in their own technical documents. Another way of looking at this is that, if BMW is trying to increase sales of this M3, forcing another $700-$1200 extra on top of the Technology package price when Logic 7 is supposed to be standard, then it doesn't make any marketing or technical sense (to me) to do so: iDrive in this M3 could be as high as $5000...

Enhanced audio is an stand alone option as it is Navigation by itself, but if you order Navigation or the ZTP then it is a must.

Again, I would like to believe that it is a must because of the MOST interface and not because it is a money machine...

Cheapest Possible M3

So the cheapest possible M3 is White or Black
with the cloth seats and obviously no options.

I think that would still be a nice car.

I would be surprised if they let you choose
sycamore interior trim for no extra money.

Would it be cheaper to pick it up at the performance center?
I wonder if that would avoid delivery charges.

It appears that the base stereo in the US is SA676, which is NOT Logic-7. Here are the German optional systems:

- SA676 HiFi-Lautsprechersystem - €478,99
- SA677 HiFi-System Professional LOGIC 7, Nur in Verbindung mit M Drive und Navig ationssystemen oder Radio Professional - €991,60
- SA752 BMW Individual High End Audiosystem Nur in Verbindung mit M Drive und Navigationssystemen oder Radio Professional - €1.764,71

Note the €2100 price you quoted in Germany is witrh VAT; w/o it's €1764.

This is from the South Africa price list, where 676 is the standard system, as well:

- SA676 Hi-Fi loudspeaker system (10 speaker system including Amplifier with vehicle specific equalizing) - Std
- SA677 Hi-Fi speaker system with Professional DSP (Digital Sound Processor LOGIC 7 with 13 speakers) - R3 900
- SA752 Individual High-end Audio system (16 speaker system with high-end amplifier performance, optimised cooling system, unique speaker grilles) - R14 600

Metallic paint is free of charge for the M5. It might or might not be free of charge for the M3. Keep in mind there is nothing official about any of the US pricing we have been kicking around on this thread or forum...

Lucid, do you know if Metallic paint was also no extra cost for the E39 M5 or was that a new thing for the E60 M5? I ask because as far as I know Metallic paint has always been extra for the M3.
