In car DVR
I've been looking for a DVR solution for awhile. A few of my requirements:
1) Has to be able to record from multiple inputs simultaneously 2) Has to be able to record even if the car isn't on (security purposes) 3) Has to be able to record for extended periods of time 4) CCD cameras, not CMOS 5) Needs to look rather OEMish, (covert, not overt) Stumbled across this today: http://www.carformance.com/hermes-mv...logy-12154553/ http://www.witnesstech.com/ Highlights: 2 adj. front-facing Sony CCD (not CMOS!) color cameras, multi-input recording (w/audio!) and the ability to add 3 add'l cameras. It also has audio/video out, so I'm thinking it can output to the OEM display w/the help of the Modmynav unit. Picked up one for my truck to play with, and if all goes well, I'll snag one for the car. Should be excellent for track days and general use (security when parking in parking lots/parking garages, that kind of thing). The eventual plan is to pick up the other add'l cameras, and have one for rearview use, the other aimed inside the car in an obscure location to record the cabin in event there's a break-in (the unit can be set for motion activation, as well). Edit: found this pretty clean install on a Mazda3 w/actual camera footage: http://mazda3revolution.com/forums/104334-post93.html Last edited by whats77inaname; 03-09-2012 at 01:57 PM.. |

Intriguing...
I wonder if it they can get it to display a radar detector interface like this. Radar Mirror If so, I'm down for one. ***Edit*** I've sent them an email inquiring about displaying the Radar Detector. Last edited by TheDeliverator; 03-10-2012 at 01:21 PM.. Reason: postscript |

You might be better served if you also contacted radar-mirror.com and asked them about having a custom setup made out of the dvr setup. The company that makes the dvr setup is in Taiwan.

Well, it finally came it. Actually, one came last week but the LCD had vertical lines in it = horked, so I sent it back, and got another. Company paid shipping back, which was cool. I'm running it in my truck now, took it out for a brief spin to test it out. I'll get some add'l pics/review up tomorrow, but so far, so good. Lots of pretty cool features, shoots 30fps. It also has a microusb plug in the top, so I'm wondering if I can attach a portable HDD to it and record everything on the bigger drive. Not sure, as there are no instructions. All the menus on the unit are in English, though, which is good.
