Tune2Air randomly disconnects
Hello,
I purchased a Tune2Air for my 2009 E92 M3 with ipod integration, and at first impression everything worked perfectly. However, after using it for more extended periods of time, I've discovered the unit will randomly disconnect from my phone, music stops and the car defaults back to radio (from "IPOD" mode). I've been paying attention and this happens regardless of bumps, and happens randomly but connection never lasts more than 30 minutes or so. The device then reconnects after 10 seconds or so. I searched the forum but couldn't find anyone else experiencing this. I assume this might be either a quick loss of energy, or just a problem with the actual device... It is almost impossible to tell which, since whenever it happens, I open the center compartment quickly and the light on the Tune2Air is already ON. Has anyone experienced something like this? |

The easiest thing to test would be to see if you can get a new Tune2Air and see if it does the same thing. You can also check your USB port and see if it looks dirty or any contacts look damaged.
I would suspect it might just be your USB in the dash is damaged if the Tune2 Air itself isn't defective. If it was a connection issue with the phone and Tune2Air you'd lose the audio source but I don't believe your iDrive would switch sources.

I ordered a new USB/AUX unit on ebay (https://www.ebay.com/itm/143639222234) and will check if it fixes itself... otherwise I'll have to probably replace the Tune2Air. I've sent bovee support an email but no response yet

Sorry to revive an old thread, but mine does the same. Another thing that mine does is it overtakes other devices, which can get quite annoying. I have a BT speaker in my garage and when I open the car door, my phone automatically switched to Tune2Air.

I was having a similar issue and found a solution. Tune2air was randomly disconnecting every 10-30 mins, and then took around 10-20 seconds to reconnect. I found that changing the tune2air bluetooth settings on my phone to 'media audio' only cured the problem.
Not sure if it's the same problem as others, but mine has been working fine now for several days. Try disabling 'phone calls' and 'contact sharing' in the bluetooth settings for tune2air on your phone and see if that helps. |
