Slightly different size when compared side by side but virtually the same knob. F10 M5 knob is 6.0oz while the ZHP is SLIGHTLY heavier weighted at 6.3oz.

The boot that is attached to the M5 knob will work on your car, you just need to reuse the plastic snap ring from your M3 knob. Nothing huge, just undoing a few staples and fixing it onto the M5 boot via glue or staples. Very straightforward and very worthwhile if you still have the OEM goose neck knob.

Mentioned it above, the white connector on the F10 M5 knob is plug and play with the OEM connector on our M3's.

Sorry, I'm a bit confused now. In the earlier picture, you show that it is shorter than the ZHP knob, but in the picture above it looks the same height.

How much lower is this knob then the stock one?

I think the picture you're talking about is the F10 knob next to the stock knob/shifter...not the ZHP.

In terms of height, see this post:

http://www.m3post.com/forums/showpos...4&postcount=32

It is significantly shorter than stock. To me, though I like the look and feel of the knob itself, the height difference is unacceptable. Is there a way to extend the height?

The F10 M5 6 speed knob is (almost) identical to the ZHP weighted knob... best of all, it's LIGHTED using the same white connector!

P/N: 25112284205

$124.52 through Tischer!
You said its almost identical to the ZHP knob... what are the differences?

And what did you do about the different shift boot?
i went the ebay route(some guy modded a zhp and retro with lights) before this was offered .

the boot you have to cut .

Hs anyone done the ZHP or F10 M5 knob AND a short shift kit? Is it too much in terms of shifting effort and notchiness? I have the UUC short shifter (and stock knob at the moment) and it can be a little finicky/notchy when the car is cold. I'd like to do this mod but not if it will make the shifting effort unreasonable.

Any helpful photos to aid with the instructions? Seems easy. Did you need to remove the boot?

No, you don't . Just use the buttom ring of your OEM knob. This part is the only hard part of this DIY.

So went out tonight and honestly was paying more attention to my new gear knob than the girl I was out with lol The M5 gear knob is AMAZING! I was happy with the stock gear knob, but this made driving so much more fun. Changing gear is even more fun, no issue at all with down shifting and up shifting. This is a mod that if you have a 6MT M3, you just have to do it. This and OEM exhaust mod are the best mods I have done to my car! Definitely I recommend it.

Prince, how did you explain to your date having a shorter knob was better?

A great OEM looking mod once it's all done. The only fussy part during the install was attaching the OEM boot ring to the new boot. I chose copying the old boot's four hole method to anchor and then filed away necessary parts of the F10 Boot at the bottom so it lock into place well.

Prince of Persia you just installed the F10 shift knob and not a short shifter? So without a true short shifter, do you get a sensation of shorter throws with a shorter lever arm of the F10 shift knob? Thinking of doing this install, too.
