Love photography. Being in Europe, let alone living on the cusp of the Alps in northern Italy has been great for getting into it. I steped up a while ago to some intermediate gear and have been slowley expanding it since.

What do you think of the range so far?

Nikon D5000 kit with
AF-S DX VR NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G (had it two years)

This came last year for a nominal zoom range
AF-S VR Zoom-NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED

And just purchased but havent shot this for Wide Angle
AF-S DX Zoom-NIKKOR 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5G ED

Looking forward to taking the 10-24 into the mountains as soon as this rain lets up so I can get first shots of the mountain snowfall.

Accessories include:
SB-600 flash
ML-3 Compact Modulite Remote Control
dual battery grip extension
55mm filter kit
67mm filter kit
lens pen cleaner / other cleaners blowers

Im waiting on ordering a nice Macro lens but havent decided, there are quite a few choices out there. If someone could recommend a decent Macro, and possibly a nice place to get a quality Tripod and head that would be appreciated.

Can't help you on WHERE to get a quality tripod and head and Italy, but you can't go wrong with:
Gitzo (if cost is no object)
Manfrotto
Really Right Stuff

I've been quite happy with my Vanguard Alta Pro CF tripod too. Not sure if they are available where you are, but they are worth checking out.

As for Macro lenses, I don't have any experience with them, so I'm no help there....

I love my Nikon 105mm macro. Despite being a specialty lens, it's one of my favorite ones to shoot with. Not really that pricey, about the same as that wide angle. I wouldn't go with the smaller one, you'll appreciate the reach of the 105mm.

I need to go read up on Nikon gear cuz whenever people talk about it it's like I might as well be reading in Japanese.

I can tell though with the roaming aperture on the lenses that this is more an entry level set of glass though right?

I agree, It's a nice starting point, but the real killers are your inconsistent aperture openings.

Having a constant aperture opening is very handy for maintaining exposure from picture to picture. Make your post processing a breeze.

But as far as i can tell, there's nothing wrong with the equipment you have, but there's definitely room for future improvement.
