M3 front shock diameter is larger, but some coilover use a spacer, if it's the type that can be removed, then the shock might be able to be used on a non-m. Be aware, some coilovers the spacer is welded and can't be removed, so needs to be taken on a case by case basis.

But the rear shocks are different, in order to use an M3 rear shock, Rear M3 Lower control arms are needed.

Are you having trouble finding suspension setups for the e9x non-M? As tdott stated the front strut diameters are different and removing the M strut adapter, doesn’t mean the M strut without adapter will fit on an e9x non-m. Also, as he correctly stated, the rear M damper is not a direct bolt-on for an e9x non-M.

What are you looking to do with the upgraded suspension; e.g., improved track performance, dual street-track use, increased street performance, etc.? What’s your approximate budget?
