As for the project we are working on a custom header. Wiring is all complete now which took the most time to assemble. |

Funny, that people here judge this thread as dead because it probably the first serious build thread ever on these forums...
people create build threads for painting their car and adding a stupid spoiler and matte black'ing their wheels and be done in 3 weeks.. "Oh I added 3 stickers, plasti dipped my wheels and added a diffuser...oh boy now my car is fully modified." Real build threads, like all out swaps, chasis build ups, and race car builds, take years. maybe some big shops can complete a race build with cage/boost/wheel/tire/suspension in about 6-8 months.. but for regular people paying out of their pockets it takes years.. settle the fu*k down..and enjoy and apreciate a "real build thread" My build has been underway for 2 years.. sometimes it's because I lack the money others it's because the shop is busy with Sema/race events etc... when I do have money....shit takes time..

Now about the time it takes to complete a project...I agree with you 100%. These projects take a lot of time, a lot of money, and a lot of patience. I always tell people to start with the vendor's time estimate...and double it, maybe even triple it. |

I love swapped cars.
Would love to see more pictures and information. You know...for future reference. I would totally swap something else if I had any issues with the V8. |

How is the wiring going? The wiring and keeping the car operating like factory was the most difficult part. |

I did an S65 into a bmw 1 series. Its a different swap and a bit easier in my book as the e9x and e8x are of the same generation. Wiring it all together was the most difficult part. Performance Technic did the work and Mike at BPMsport did the coding and tuning. The car was largely worked on the side and after all the planning it took a few weeks to complete with two bmw master techs working on it. The wiring is all diagrammed out so we can make more of them if anyone was ever interested in makeing one. The car has all of the factory functions and is legal in CA with the street exhaust.

labor is a very subjective thing for a motor swap project. One thing may take one shop X time, another shop may be more. You never know and there can only be ball parks.
PM me if you want details. I dont want to derail OP's thread. OP - we look forward to the updates. Its going to be amazing the first time you drive the transformed car. |
