Now, I like the G8 (at least on paper -- I've never seen or driven one) but NOBODY is cross-shopping the G8 with the 550i. Commercials like this one are designed to make people who are considering the G8 feel better/smarter about the decision to buy it.

Because the G8 GXP isn't out yet...

its expect to offer more than 402hp with 402 lb/ft of torque.

Even the GXP doesn't compete against the M5. Not even the G8 GT competes with the 550i. It is just trying to show the value of the G8. Get the same( or more) room, power, etc then the 550i for less cash.

yet another SHITTY commercial by an American car company. Why is there a need to try and bash other car companies, when your message can come across tastefully, (like the Audi and BMW ones above)?

When is the last time you saw an AMG, 911, M, or S commercial bash the Vette, or Viper, SRT-8, etc? They can easily say, more prestige, 10000x better interior, etc. etc., but I've personally never seen anything as extreamly done as this Pontiac commercial. I also remember commercials from Pontiac about the G6 and Solstice bashing other imports too.

No worries, even if they sell enough G8s to meet their quotas, owners would never buy another Pontiac.

I learned my lesson from the GTO LS2. I always thought people were exagerating when they said their car was falling apart, until my GTO was literally FALLING APART.

Yeah, 6.0 liters with 360+ hp stock and can get 24 mpg in teh auto and 26 with a 6 speed. Sounds pretty good to me.

Remember folks, the G8 is a Holden. Wait until the GXP comes out with the 6.2 liter with over 400 bhp (430-450 with a tune), Brembos all the way around and a big can of whoop ass for you.

I drove one this past Saturday and I suggest you keep your smart comments to yourself until you have had a chance to take a G8 GT with the Sports Package for a spin. And rememeber this isn't the fast model but it still takes the 550 out . . .

Yeah. I guess you got a lemon. Sorry but all auto makers do make a few . . . My 535 was like that but I don't trash BMW for that. My 02 E46 M3 with SMG was nice until I had to get the "level 2" 60K service and replace a leaking oil pan gasket. Almost had a stroke on that bill. . .

I have 68K on my 04 and never had any issues and it is still as tight as it was the day I drove it off the lot. Actually better then my two past Bimmers. My 325i I had back in the day was great.

Just wait. The 403 hp is the detuned software on an 87 octane table. It is the same motor as the LS3 Corvette with 430 horse. A little intake porting and dyno tune and you have 450 horse. Add a little cam and longtube headers and you got a M5 eater with over 510. It comes with 6 piston Brembos in the front and 4 in the rear and will wear 20 inch rims with Max performance rubber. Weight, less then the M5. Price, 1/2 . . . A lot of bang for the buck if you ask me.

The G8 is a nice car, I looked at one the other day they are not a bad deal. And as he was saying the GXP is going to be a beast. I really like the new CTS-V too.

But as far as good commercials go. this is one of my all time favorites.

there is definately no doubt that GM can make cars go as fast (1/4 mile, etc.) as some of Germany's best. I remember the F-body T/A and SS make 5.2-5.3 sec 0-60 times (back from '98-'02), with the 6.0 GTO at sub 5 second (and all of these cars were easily modded to push out another 75hp)...but why try to prove it advertising in such a distasteful and arrogant way?

A car with only great performace, at even bargain price will not sell well in today's market if it looks "economical"--compared to cars with a great design/ quality and slightly less performance. I don't see too many SRT-4's or GTO's on the street...even though they can run with cars costing 3-5x their price! You would think that they could not keep these cars in stock.

--You could put a ZO6 engine in a G8 GXP, and I would still put ALL my money on the M5 in a track setting (not just straight line tests).
Of course, all my statements are JUST opinions.
