Actually we don't have a problem. Everybody else does. Trying to be something your not is LAME. The cars you just mentioned are not real M cars either.

I have no problem with M235s, M340s etc. Full respect for what those car are/will be.

I have no problem with a 428 wearing an M4 badge. They aren't doing anyone harm, I just have to laugh at them and their insecurity and poser lifestyle. Who know what else they do in their life to have to resort to lying to impress other drivers.

Apparently, seeing a 'fake' M induces laughter to some people, either in genuine amusement or in condescension. Not enough to just enjoy your own car, we have to police the brand and expose these poseurs too. Now that's hilariously small-minded. I come across many on the daily and can tell you, ironically, where I live, nobody gives a sh*t, and that's in a country where M3s cost $270k, so if anything, M owners here should be more riled up than anyone else in the world. Honestly, who cares? People can enjoy the car the way they prefer. I actually find some of the hideous 'builds' posted here more risible than the wannabes.

Poseurs deserve to be called out in all walks of life, not just fake M badges. Just be true to yourself.

The main reason I personally find fake M badges so amusing is just the irony in it. The vast majority of the public frankly don't know the difference between a 428, 440, or an M4. So the only people that would actually know the difference and theoretically be "impressed" by an M4 are the same people that know it's fake.
