Power loss after accident
I’ve been searching the forum for information on this.
Back story after lurking for years I finally was able to purchase a 2010 e90 m3 with 63000 miles .Did everything right got a ppl done it came back clean . First thing I did one week after purchase was change the rod Bearings . Then yesterday while sitting at a traffic light some idiot rear ended me 🤬 the damage from outward appearance seems light .looks like the exhaust may have been impacted also .What I’ve noticed now is that when I accelerate hard it seems like I’m having “turbo lag” a loss in power is this possible if the exhaust was hit ? You can tell because one side of the exhaust is probably a half inch pushed in I’m going to have this checked under the insurance but thought I’ll put it out on the forum first also strangely the door locking system would not work for a few minutes afterwards ........,weird Thanks |

If there's no visible kinks in the exhaust you might need to check out the catalytic converters, I had an old Volvo 240 that one day wouldn't rev past 3000 RPM and it was due to the guts of the cat breaking up and clogging the exhaust most of the way, like a blocked artery.
