It's more than just a job.
My son will be in after senior HS year and college, he is sworn in.

It is more than a job, technically. It's a lifestyle. But when you sign your name and are sworn in, maintaining that lifestyle becomes your job. Best and worst times of my life and I miss every bit of it.

I have tried many times and failed, this is about the cleanest I've gotten.

Well done. That's a VERY tough shot with whites against a very dark BG. You may have blown out some whites at the top of the right wing, but the back and head are perfect. Ideally you might have gone another -.5EV but this result is very good as is.

Taking many and learning from your failures is a big part of how you get good at this type of shot.

Thanks Dave, Egrets have always been a problem for me. I never get close enough to get a good exposure on them or the distance is great and my speed is too low.
On the other hand, this one was a bit too close.

haha, yeah, their beaks are quite sharp looking when they are close, I got to have fun with one of them a few years back when my friends dad was fishing. I was throwing some of the old bait to the egret, and it's amazing how shy they aren't when there's food involved.

Please don't peck the 82mm Hoya HMC filter. I am now a fan of the 77mm B+W cpl, only problem I see with it is that it doesn't bind in the threads so you can only turn it clockwise.

I know of someone who borrowed a Singh Ray variable ND filter and scratched it.... lucky for them the owner bought it w/ American Express and they replaced it.

I need to get a good 77mm CPL for my 24-105. I've been a big fan of CPLs since my 35mm film days.

MRC but I think that you have to be really picky about your shots, otherwise a regular CPL is better than none. I have a link for a place back east on my home computer, give me a few days.

Finally got a half decent picture of my Juvenile Koran Angel...I would guesstimate at 7 to 7.5 inches at this point. In the face, you can see it starting to turn into an adult, which is more yellow in color.
