Jmflukeiii, I can definitely relate. The look of shock in their faces is priceless. However I must note, when comparing apples to apples, watch out for those jeep srt-8s and ml63..I've had a few run-ins with them and I can say they are no slouches.

Chowster, thanks for the info!

Yes, I had a friend with the SRT-8 and drove it myself... it feels like a smaller car, and it is quick for sure. But the Range Rover is just so much nicer in every way.

As someone who is fairly new to this board, i'm a bit surprised at how many E46 vs. E9X M threads have been posted as of late.

From what i've read, most of the replies say "go for the E9X", "E9X is the better car" or something in that nature, as they should...it's the newer M3, it SHOULD be better. However, it's alarming to me that there are still current E9X M owners who miss their E46. I'm really torn on which way to go. I really wish I can just have them both lol!!

Well, I miss my E36 M3 more than any other car. I also miss my high school sweetheart in some ways.

No desire to keep them past their expiration dates, however.

Joking aside, it's not always a given that a newer generation of cars improves on the old one. So if you find a car that embodies everything that you love about cars, I say you should definitely keep it.

That's probably the best and most straight forward advice I've received from anyone regarding my "dilemma". I think I just need to sit down and jot down the pro's and con's stacking the cars (E46 vs. E90) against each other, while taking into consideration my *entire* situation.

I'm on the same boat as you. In the process of selling my e46 and begin my pursuit of a e90 m3. Kids and coupe equals a lot of work for the parents. Good luck.
