Specifics of latest software version?

When going in for a routine oil change this week my dealer mentioned there was a recall due to software. Car needs entirely "reflashed". I wondered why I did not get a letter about it. I'm guessing because if it is not a critical safety issue and your are under warranty then you won't get a letter.

Anyway, the dealer (of course...) had no idea what the specific changes were in the the new software version. Does anyone have any documentation about this new software version and what changes were made? I may be able to add the software version number after I pick up my car and get my paperwork.

Let us know what you find out. I have to take my car in on Wednesday for its annual oil change. I have the DCT so I'm sure it will require an update since my car hasn't had a software update (except for 1200 mile service) since delivery in 12/09.

It is SI B28 01 10

DCT diagnostics error that has to be fixed, so a free upgrade to most recent, including the redesigned drivelogic that fixes DCT lag.

^ I doubt the latest version of the software has any DCT bug fixes. I had a software update many moons ago in which a primary change was DCT fixes/updates. It worked well and was discussed extensively here on the forum.

Anyway, my car has now been in the shop 48 hours and may or may not get out on Monday after the weekend. They did not get started programming until the 2nd day, and then according to my SA, the flash process destroyed a module (i.e. piece of hardware/board) in the car. He said this is common, which I could barely believe. Apparently it blew out a board/module in above the map light area that has something to do with lighting/sunroof control (and I don't even have a sunroof). Adding insult to injury I have a crappy little Chevy SUV thingie loaner car.

I was told the same thing when I took my car in last week. When I got my car back I really didn't notice anything different with my DCT but then again I had never experienced any lag prior to this anyway. It does an upgrade on the navi as well, I did notice some different options and visually it is a little different.

During the update a module can fail. Not sure it's "that" common, sometimes due to a voltage spike or someone interrupting the cable connection. It does happen, but it's not common. Best of luck.

I have heard there is an update for the cold start procudure, too try and smooth out the rough running while the air fans are running, to warm the cats up.

I'm not sure if this is just here in the UK or global.

Thats interesting...last time I had some minor service work done a couple of months ago (brake fluid change IIRC)...my car went in with really quite rough cold start running which it had ever since my last major software update with the engine hunting up and down the rev range for a minute or so and sounding really quite loud. When I got it back the cold start was transformed and is now perfect...however no one told me they had done any software updates!

I also took my car in for minor service and this DCT software recall. They have now had it for 8 days and it still isnt working. The update hosed the iPod controls, and they claim to be working on reflashing the audio software.

Hmmm, so far I've gotten 3 random DCT error messages, 1 of which being a temperature warning, the other 2 just being "transmission malfunction but you can still drive". I wonder if this will help.

hey swamp i had the same thing happen to me and i got the newest software about a week ago. it only take them 1-2 days. i dont know what the specifics of the update were but from what i can feel the dct shifts a litte smoother and shifts a litter higher for gears 1-3. for the first few days startup was a little weird. i dont know how to explain it but it was as if the startup was missing a part like as in before it went 1,2,3 and then after it went 1,3. it went back to normal after a few days. software wasnt a big deal but overall not bad

Check the sticky posts for this forum. One on DCT Lag issues. On the last pages of that thread is a PDF of the Sept 2010 advisory. It became the basis of a passive recall item to be done next time the car comes in (rather than call them all in in one bunch).

Apparently there can be complications. Mine is in again today and they're checking that the software update took properly bc mine ended up worse than before re clunking and lag. We'll see.

Hope you get yours back soon!

I had the update yesterday. What I did notice that was strange, was that now, I cannot back the car up at all with the door open. Before, I could go about 10 feet before the transmission came out of gear. Also, the format of my phone numbers on the iDrive is different. They put a sticker on my drivers-side door jamb stating that I had the update. I'll edit my post as I notice more stuff.

Can you go forward more than 10 feet with the door open?

I got the update 3 to 4 weeks ago I believe the version was a 40 and it was the first update that I'm aware of for my car since new. Changes are subtle other than the DCT upgrade which is a carry over(ver.39) from a previous update, mine still had March of 2010 FW what ever that was. It did make some changes to the glorious idrive screens and how it handles incoming calls with Btooth..... But dont even ask specifics because I've been using it for a month now and forget what it used to be like.

I got a call as well from my SA telling me about the recall and update but not specifically bout DCT. I'll chime in when it's done next week.

-got mine back again today and their solution to fixing the iPod was to reverse all the other updates. I lost the idrive updates that had been applied with the DCT fix. I am really fucking irritated now. I was excited about the new menus and views.

I am off to search for something that will tell me the latest versions and how to find my current versions.

I think they put the latest update on my car in december. Maybe a slight difference in the DCT and some minor changes in the ipod interface and nav system.

I seem to have lost the nav updates and the ability to initiate an oil level check from the idrive vehicle status menu.

Anyone with a 2009/2010 who has had the update able to tell me their nav version number? It is in the idrive menu for nav.

Holy off topic. If anyone knows anything about the most recent software update, please post that. Otherwise please don't.
