Excuse me while I clean out my pants... I'm down on my usual amount of cars have been investing in more real estate. Have a couple houses ready to flip then I'm considering adding a GT3 RS, F10 M5 and will be ready to get rid of my pos X6 unless its bought by BMW things a lemon.

Car modding is big business... companies like IND have to mod the hell out of these cars to make guys like you interested in spending money at their business..it's their job and they get paid to do it...For them, im sure they can write it off as part of the cost of doing business....For us, its just money down the shitter...if i could mod my car and write off the mods, id probably do it big..If its a hobby, ok fine, but hobbies can get expensive really fast, esp car modding....theres no point in getting a POS and modding the shit out of it if you are using it as a DD. just spend more money for the slower nicer car. If you want something fast as hell, go to the junk yard and buy a bucket and fix it up to supercar specs.

3 considerations:
resale value (mods worth zero) maintenance cost (looked into lambo service?) (or vw?) taxes (my m3 is taxed $2k a year.. vw would be $200) |

Honestly guys most of IND's customers (me included) modify their cars to make their perfect M3 and not solely for a performance gain. These customers didn't modify their M3 to make it as good as a Lambo or P-Car or GTR, they wanted an M3 but wanted some things done that the factory couldn't do for them.
To me my IND M3 is the perfect M3 for me, I wasn't in the market for another car, I was in the market for an M3 but I wanted a few things done that BMW couldn't/wouldn't do for me. Any request, no matter how small, IND did it for me. For example painting all my OEM grills gloss black or painting my BMW M/// licence plate frame and even the screw covers gloss black since I wanted it all to match the OEM shadowline for a clean look. An IND M3 is not always about performance, it is about a customer wanting a specific thing/specific things done to personalize their car to their exact specs. When I purchased my car I knew I was keeping it for a long time, most likely indefinitely, IND made my car my perfect M3 for me. |

You can get 2004 Gallardo's for around or perhaps even less than that price.

No matter what you do to an M3 or how much you spend, an M3 will never be a Lamborghini or even a Porsche 911 for that matter.
No matter how good of a sports car a Lamborghini or a Porsche 911 is they can never replace an M3 and all of it's versatility. |

Weird post, but I have a 2010 GTI and a 2011 E90 M3. The GTI is just for fun. My wife *really* loves driving it around on errands and to the gym.
I can't remember what the APR Stage 2 Tune and Carbonio carbon fiber intake mods cost, but I do know that compared to similar mods to a BMW it was dirt cheap. These mods took the hp up to around 260 and the tq to just under 300 if I remember correctly. Other than being FWD, it's a pretty quick, fun car to drive, especially in 6MT form, and even with spirited driving returns 30mpg easily. Plus VW has the FWD thing down pretty well.......the torque steer even with the mods is very manageable. Add the Autobahn package and the interior matures considerably versus the standard Tartan Plaid cloth with nicely bolstered, leather covered seats, etc.... Fun, easy to drive, quick, cheap and great mpg. No wonder Car and Driver says it's a model that every car enthusiast should own before they die! As an added bonus, if I drive the GTI for a week solid.......I really know where the extra money went for the M3 the first time I get back into it! I'm sure my 13 year old will love it in a few years!
