FS: Blacked out Custom E9X M3 Headlights 3/4 DTM Carbon Fiber Bay Area

Apparently I enjoy doing these so much that I keep undertaking new builds.
This set is configured as follows:
3/4 DTM rings
Shrouds in Pearl Black
Trim around shrouds in satin black
Blacked out corner housing
Carbon fiber eyelid
New exterior Lenses
Rings wired to OE connections, making these plug and play.
Butyl glue refresh for tight seal between lenses and housings

Pics do not do this black pearl justice. In the light they really shine.
This set is 90% complete, but as always Bimmerjakes was backordered on the lenses. I am expecting delivery early this week.

Pic1 Quick shot of the rings and shrouds.
Pic2 The Bavgruppe eyelids are notoriously thin, and often times does not diffuse the light coming from xenon bulb, resulting in visible pinhole effect. I have remedied this by wrapping the backside with an Oracal black vinyl.
*Top eyelid wrapped, bottom not wrapped

I wish I would have known about the eyelids from Bavgruppe being so thin and letting light through; I would have done the same. Also, I swear these lights make our cars look 10 years younger.

GLWS!

Yeah, as it turns out, bavgruppe buys the same China made eyelids as can be had anywhere on the net for half the price. This is likely the last time I pay $55 for what I assumed was a premium product.

These lights are a must on E9X. Seems like the oe headlight department went about half effort when designing them for the platform.

Thanks!

Thanks friend, I might start to get a little crazier with the builds ie Carbon fiber shroud trim, demon eyes, etched lenses, etc.

These look incredible. Currently torn between just going with Lux H8 V6 and something like this. Would love to know what these would run me

If only Lux (or any bulb) could fill the outer rings properly.

Looking good, and GLWS!

Wondering, do you build lights for others? I'd love to swap in clear ZKW projector lenses and reseal my lights (condensation when I wash the car), but it's not an undertaking I am up for.

Sadly no bulb can distribute the light that far of a distance. Definitely a flawed design of these lights. If BMW had just installed one bulb per ring many people would not feel the need to diy.

I say you should have at it. If all you're going to do is the lenses you only need your new lens and some butyl glue. the lens is very easy to get out and in. Its accessed just by prying back some tabs.

OEM lenses are in and have been unboxed. Going to be getting them installed and in the oven for two baking cycles today.

Going to do a for sale thread for these in the exterior FS section. I like to do a thread in the CA regional section in hopes of getting the attention of Bay Area people potentially interested.

Just a heads up, my price does not require your headlights as a core. You get to keep your lights for when you return to stock.
