radar detector
Getting ready to pull the trigger on a radar detector and wanted to know which one is the best for Canada. The two most popular seem to be the V1 and passport. Which ones do you guys use? With this stupid speed racing law I think I have to get one. I've only ever got one ticket and the officer never filed it so technically I have a clean record. I don't drive that fast, but I do go 50 km for a short burst at least once a day. I commute down county back roads twice a weak and it's so easy to hit 130 km's in a 80. That's not even red line in 3rd.
On a side note the c 63 is a beast. It just pulls so hard. I hit 200 km today real fast for a sec. I was little skeard because I'm on winter rubber, but it felt rock solid

I just happened to see this thread. I too was torn just like you are and decided to go with the V1. I love it. I chose it because it always seems to perform best in tests (see www.guysoflidar.com) not to mention that it was $100 cheaper. And I now echo what many others have said: Once you've experienced the arrows, it's hard to imagine going back!

For Ontario - these are pretty much your only options if you want undetectable: http://kmph.ca/guides/radar-detector...rn-canada.html Glad to hear you are having fun with your C63 "beater"- but thats what a Benz is isnt it... |

lol - no kidding. Not sure about the C63, but in the M3 to run the hardwire to keep the detector (assuming you dont go built in so you can use in both cars) out of sight is actually a pretty simple install. I think it took me about 20mins or so.

Having run a radar detector for 20 years, I can also be a poster boy for the V1.... The arrows are so sweeet.
However, with you being in Ont, an undetectable one is a must.....something I am not sure if the V1 is.

For Ontario the only way to go is Beltronics STi or Escort Redline.
However the Beltronics STi is proven and the signal leakage can only be detected from a few feet away; bsaically even a cop right beside or behind you would most likely will not be able to detect it even with the lastest Spectre radar detector detector unit; if you get anything else eventually you'll probably get caught. I used to have another brand unit and got caught with it, haha. I wasn't even going fast when I was using it.. 120kmh, insult to injury. So now I don't have it anymore.. GROUP BUY? |

i have an escort... but even then, i dont feel like it gives enough protection... too many cops using laser nowadays... i am hoping to get enough cash one day to invest in a laser jammer system... i dont think radar detectors work any more in this day and age. the cops are getting too rich and a lot of them are using laser instead of good old radar.

How did you do the install? Don't post it because I don't want the cops knowing. Could you PM me instead please? Pretty please?
