They are indeed different. If you look at my speaker, it says "8O" as in Ohm not "80" as in zero. If you put in that you have a HiFi System it shows it will ship Jan 7. EPS shows it ships in 6-8 weeks.

Also, here is a pic of the box.

In the second-hand market, how do you distinguish between the different models? Even on the website, when you put them in the cart, it does not tell you the impedance. I think it would be very expensive to manufacture 3 different models for a relatively small market like this. I hope I am wrong, but I haven't seen any evidence that they indeed supply 3 different models.
We are indeed making three different impedances for the various audio systems, despite the fact that it's expensive to do so, because it delivers a better result for our customers even if we make less money.

Here's the impedance breakdowns and applications (note that there are some exceptions to this rule depending on vehicle models, but these are general guidelines)

Hi-Fi: 2 Ohm
Base Audio: 4 Ohm
Logic 7 / Harman Kardon / EPS / DIRAC: 8 Ohm (with some 2 Ohm exceptions depending on chassis, model, iDrive, etc.)

Hope that helps to clarify. Also, you can tell what impedance is appropriate for your particular vehicle by adding the woofers to your cart -- we list the impedance right on the site before you check out.

Good to hear. So the "8O" stands for 8 ohm? If that is true, I am still a little confused because the woofers in the L7/HK systems are 4 ohm. I have seen at least 2 or 3 posts now of people with L7/HK systems who installed woofers with the "8O" label. Can you please clarify?

To answer part of my own question, I just went through checkout and your system selected 8 ohm subs for my 2008 sedan with Logic 7, which has 4 ohm factory woofers. This would result in the Ghost woofers receiving only half of the 70 Watts per channel of the factory amp.

Micah, can you clarify why the site states the speakers are not compatible with the Dirac/Individual Audio System but are for EPS?

Bavsound shipped my speakers earlier then estimated and I was able to install them and try them out. I was looking for improved mid-range to compliment the 12" subwoofer I have in the trunk and I have to say it's met my expectations so far. Improved and cleaner sound over the stock speakers and really filled in what the EPS system was lacking before.

If you like them now, wait until they break in over the next couple of weeks. Very happy with the upgrade.

Are you saying that DIRAC is supported? I have a 2008 M3 with BMW Individual 752 option and this forum seems to believe your Ghost Sub is not supported.

Nice review. I want to change out my subs but I'm not sure which radio I have.

Call a service department and give them your VIN. They can tell you what you have.

Pretty easy to tell the difference though. EPS/Individual systems have tan speakers behind the grills in the door. You would also have a "surround Sound" option you could see in the tone settings. If you don't have that, you have HiFi.

Guys, just got an e-mail from Bavsound. They're having a clearance/open box sale. Picked up the subs up for $372. I would go there soon as they only have a limited amount.

For those who have installed this, can you provide an updated review on the sound now that they have broken in a bit more?

Took about two weeks for them to fully break in. No one is going to ask if I have a subwoofer in the trunk, but I believe it sounds excellent now for a factory system.

Has anyone installed this with an Individual 752 Dirac system?

It is apparently not compatible, according to the Bavsound website. I never got a clear answer on why that is, but maybe I'll call during lunch to ask.

I hope that's not the case as mine are on their way and I have the 752 option. When I specified DIRAC (individual audio system) their website told me I needed the 8ohm ghost subs... It better not have been lying!

please stop spreading the misinformation.

EPS = Individual = DIRAC. You can select them all on bavsound and it gives you the 8ohm subs. They fit.

I have the EPS and my build sheet says I have the 752 option. I installed the bavsound 8 ohm speakers and it works fine.

Huh, last time I checked it was marked as incompatible. I wonder if there was a change or if the website was just buggy?

they must've updated the site... it was incompatible when I ordered a month ago... i tried it now and it allows you to add it in the cart for the dirac.
