Opinions needed! - No Keyless Entry = Dealbreaker?
Hi all,
I have a great offer from the dealer for a new E92 Comp Spec M3 IB/Black Int. The only thing that's driving me a littttttttttle up the wall is the fact that it comes with everything ... but the keyless entry option. One of my other friends say it's something that is easily looked over for a car like that - and given the discount that I'm given (pretty significant also). I've driven an M3 with keyless entry and it's so nice to just not fiddle around with the keys and having to stick it in each time to drive // push out when to exit. What do you guys think/feel? At times I tell myself i can give that option up and just get used to it (discount ftw!). However for the amount of cash i'm still going to pay for the car, i hate to get bugged by such a missing option. (and going to miss a nice deal boo). Has anyone here specced their M3 without the keyless entry on purpose? And if so... why? And for those who do have the option - can you live without it now?

I can give you my honest opinion. If it's already making you nuts then it will bother you for sure. I'm so used to keyless now that I could never go back. Most cars these days have keyless entry so why not yours. I say you wait and find the perfect car that will give you no regrets. I'm sure you will find it!

Have to agree. Didn't have CA on my 335 but do on the M. So happy I got it. I love it and will probably never live without it again. EAS has some remote options but not exactly sure what they are

Savings are more than 30 grand for a month old 2000km Coupe. It's a little hard to explain, we have some crazy car pricing here - but yes. That's the savings. The car costs 297,000 USD brand new here currently.. (you can see the range of prices for BMWs here (1 USD = 1.30710 SGD from XE) http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/l...=0&RGD=0&AVL=2) I think a lot of people are going to spit at their monitor right..about....now. I bought my M coupe at 172,000usd 2nd hand 2.5 years ago, i wished i was in the USA. But that's not the point right now - I guess i got an answer more or less about the keyless option though would love to hear more from the rest of the other owners, thanks for your reply. Greatly appreciated.

ask for something else thrown in as a way to offset you being bummed out by not having keyless entry - Satellite radio, M3 insignia floor mats, clear bra, etc
at least this way when it bugs you, you can think back what you got in return, beyond your current 'great offer'

I had the same dilemma when I purchased my M3 a few months ago. I passed on the car without keyless entry and am glad I did. I located another M3 with it and love it. I realize it's a minor convenience, but I'm old and need all the convenience that's available.

Had it on '08, and have it on '11, luv it. However, it's not a must - i.e. it's not what makes a M3 a M3. When I break out the key to get into my wife's Acura MDX, I don't find myself going "damn, wish it was keyless like the M3"... BTW, I didn't intentionally look for M3's "with" keyless entry. The ones I found at local dealers w/ the options/combo I wanted just happened to have that option.

Comfort access (where you can leave your key in your pocket) is nice to have but not a dealbreaker at all. All M3's, at least in the states, come with keyless entry (remote lock/unlock) standard.
I don't have comfort access on my current M3 but have had a BMW that did have it. I don't miss it, at all, and I also don't miss my remote's battery dying occasionally from never being plugged into the car, usually without warning.

Thats rough. Obviously your discount off the car is going to outweigh the 500 dollar option. But I'm like you and that would bug me to not have it on there. I would go ahead and find another one.
And I really don't understand why this isn't standard. So many cheaper cars have this option standard, so why not the luxury brands?

I have it, it's a "nice to have" option, I don't think it's that valuable of an option... I would gladly trade $500 today for them to take that option away from me, that and moonroof..

I have Comfort Access and could care less. My CA is buggy at times and more often than not, I have to take the key out to lock/unlock the car.
Only reason I got it because I wanted the M-Drive and that came with the Tech Package. |

I have it and I love it. I had it on my 550, my E55, my CLK5, etc. It's a great option.
BUT, I wouldn't pass on the car because it didn't have it. It's just a nice thing to have, not a deal breaker.

Desperately wanted CA when I bought my 335; found an incredible deal without CA and it was too good to pass up. Never missed having it until my wife got a 535 with CA, then it bugged the crap out of me every time I switched cars. Truthfully however it bugged me more that I forgot than it did that I didn't have the option. If you don't have another (or previous) car with CA I wouldn't think twice about missing it.

I have it and never use it. It's an M3 not a 7 series. And IB rocks. But as others said, if it's going to bug you, get exactly what you want. Good luck.
