BMW Roadside Assistance due to expire??!!

I just leased my '11 M3 this past August '10... today, 4 months later I get a letter from BMW saying this:

....reminder that the roadside assistance coverage that came with your BMW is due to expire on 12/15/10... That's why we recommend you continue your authorized road service protection by enrolling in BMW Roadside Assistance...
For only $99 per year, BMW Roadside Assistance provides superior ... blah blah blah....

Years of leasing BMW, I have never ever thought Roadside Assistance was an additional option and was always covered with no questions asked... and this time around all I got is a "try out"... That is so lame?

Am I missing something here?
Did I get this letter in error?
Did anyone else got such letter?
Is this what we supposed to do, purchase roadside assistance from BMW for $99???

Any input on this subject is greatly appreciated

This is what BMW offering for Roadside Assistance:
-24/7 toll-free assistance
-Coverage accross US and Canada
-Towing up to 100 miles
-Jump-start/battery boost
-Flat tire assistance

I personally have doubts $99/year is worth all that AAA might be a better idea???

Roadside assistance should be part of the warranty and service.

In Canada, BMW Assist is a one year complimentary offer and you have to renew annually after.

It consists of extra services like
Myinfo "Send to Car".
Stolen vehicle recovery.
Automatic collision notification.
remote Door unlock...
