So what is the best deal for a leftover 09 E92?
If I can find an 09 E92 M3 on a dealer lot that I want, how much can I realistically get it for? 2k below invoice?

That is where it all starts.... I haven't seen that many that has been sitting around.... Don't expect big discounts on 09's like it happaned last year w/ 08's.

I figured since I could order a 2010 for ED invoice, I would only buy a 2009 for the convenience of not having to fly to Munich but the price would have to be somewhat close to ED invoice. I believe ED invoice is about 3700 below US invoice. If I could get an 09 for 2000 below invoice I would be willing to get the older 09 model for the ease of not having to go to Europe.

In Florida Vista motors has 7 M3's on the lot... I offered them 61 for a 70k car and they laughed me off the lot. According to their computer the car had been on the lot for 126 days already...

At this point, I say invoice is fair deal but if you waited this long, wait a bit more till 2010 M3s sitting on the lot next to 09s. Then you will have much better chance to go under invoice (maybe with even better APR).

There are less than 400 brand new 2009 M3 left at dealers, at least that what's Autotrader says. At this same time last year there were over 1700 brand new 2008 M3 at Autotrader... you do the math for discounts.

^ Yeah, I don't think anyone will get as much discounts as they could've on the remaining '08's.......Mainly because the production had/has been cut down significantly due to the economy.

u can get 2010 for just a tad more than an 09, why would u want to get an 09? unless u can't wait... 09 u'd be hit with depreciation in just a few months

You'll get hit with depreciation the moment you title the car be it an 09, 2010 or 2011 even. One upside (aside from discounts) to picking up a leftover is that it will lower your average miles/year when it comes time to sell the car.

So a $5000 under MSRP plus $3000 in interest could give you an $8000 headstart vs a MY2010 configured the same but at a higher interest at rate and most probably at very minimum discount. Even if your 2009 M3 depreciates that much the moment you drive off the dealer, you will be good... |

i ran into the same problem when deciding what to do or what year to get. tried to get screwed by several dealers and worse tried to screw me big time on my E39 M5 to trade
so instead i found an 08 with 8,000 miles that was so clean it looked brand new, it had every option possible on the car that was available in 08, it was the color combo i wanted space grey with fox red extended leather and i saved about 30k from a new one and got a fair price on my trade. if you got money to burn then i would just order an 2010 bc there won't be much difference in price for a new 09 and a new 10. if you don't have money to burn like me then maybe think about the route i went and save alot of money. now i got extra money for some wheels and other goodies i want to get for the car |

well with my trade i considered that so if he was buying straight up then he could easily save 15k-17k. i saw fully loaded 08's with real low miles for btw 50-55k. fully loaded pushed it over 70k right??

My advice to anyone looking right now is to start scouting cars and be patient. Even with the reduced supply I expect there will be some sort of marketing allowance put on M3s over the winter. I agree the deals won't be what we saw last year, but there are still a lot of these cars on the ground and they are not moving quickly. My local dealer has 9 in its inventory, and they've all been there for at least a couple of months.
The prime months to save some serious $$$ are coming, patience grasshoppers |
