Its still a better engine (3.8 or 4.0), and the winningest in motorsport history by a long shot.

There are rules for eligibility. The car had to have been on sale in more than one country as of June. The RS 4.0 was not.

An award is as great as the quality of its nominees. The S65 was crowned #1 with the following competition:
#1: BMW 4L V8 (BMW M3)
#2: McLaren 3.8L V8 (MP4-12C)
#3: Porsche 3.8L Boxer DI (911 Carrera S)
#4: Audi 4L TFSI (S6, S7, S8, Bentley Continental)
#5: Nissan 3.8L Bi-turbo (GT-R)
#6: Porsche 3.8L Boxer Turbo (911 Turbo)

This is a huge win for the not-so-new S65!

I didn't know that. Good to know - thanks!

US (SAE) vs Metric hp:

http://www.metrication.us/content/ho...-obsolete-unit

Basically said:

1 Metric hp = .98632 US hp so 420 Metric hp = 420 x .98632 = 414.25 US hp

420 hp does sound better though!

It will be sad to see this amazing engine go, that's why I got me a 2012 and added a few extras...I'm happy as a clam.

Hey guys, I'm not trying to flame but isn't the S65 the ONLY V8 in the 3-4 liter category??

Nope - I think Mclaren and Audi were on the list

I admit, I know nothing about designing automobile engines, but I've always been educable. I know many posters understanding of such things outstrips my own... so learn me up.

Remember those V8 tomato juice commercials? We coulda had a V8!
B.S.

I Drove a 5.0 coyote for a few days and got 19 highway. It's nowhere near the s65 in terms of feel, responsiveness, and sound.
It's lazy, noisy, big coarse muscle car engine and I was glad to be back in my M3.
