Little Help!!!

Hi All, I am very excited to become a proud owner of M3 in few weeks and car is in transit near Baja California...My dealer's customer service is pathetic and the only reason placed bec of a good deal...

The situation I wanted to explain is, I placed my order on Feb 27th and sales guy said order would get locked in 4 days ..so told me to confirm any changes within 4 days and I did...But car went into production in April not in March as I expected ....I dont remember him saying anything about the allocation for March or anything like that..

All I wanted to know is, Is this normal (i.e car going into production a month later because I placed an order near the month end) or dealer didn't have an allocation for March and took my order just to get my business...Can I ask something from the dealer for this delay? Thankx in advance...

BMW has some pretty epic manufacturing standards. Short of custom orders via Individual, generally speaking if they have an allocation or traded for another dealer's allocation, that is for a specific production week and that rarely ever slips. I've typically seen orders +/- 1 week at most from the committed production week.

More likely than not, your dealer did not have an allocation, but probably felt pretty confident he could trade for another dealer's allocation. A little shady if they weren't up front with this... but you've got no claim though short of not accepting the car, since you don't own that car until delivery day.

You might be able to ding them on the customer satisfaction survey after you own the car which BMW takes very seriously, but even then it's not like you're going to get cash or free accessories out of it. You're more likely to get a call from the GM of the dealership with an apology.

Just take all that knowledge with you next time you buy a car. We've all made mistakes buying cars through the years.
