No no, my C63 had the 7 speed automatic and it was hot garbage. Luckily with that engine it didn't matter how many times the transmission picked the wrong gear, you were still accelerating *quickly*. But before that I had a 6MT E90M3, which is where my feedback comes from.

It didn't help the M3's cause that I owned the NSX shortly after. If you want to make any shifter feel like junk, just compare it to a Honda.

Did anyone suggest StopTech or any company should run around replacing wheel bearings for everyone before slapping a BBK on? Think you're missing the point. Certain kits have become notorious for issues. People have gone through every piece, on an expensive replace-everything journey, only to have the problem persist. And yet, an AP kit, or otherwise, fixes the problem. That is a brake problem, not a chassis problem. And to your point -- if a platform has an inherent problem causing aftermarket brake calipers to function properly & safely, then it is exactly that companies problem to fix and work around. Do stock brakes have knockback on the e9x?

No, but it is their problem when the issues only exist with one specific kit/manufacturer and none others. It's not like the E92 chassis is renowned for having flexy wheel bearings or knuckles and having terrible pad knockback.

Those of us that have experienced it, it has almost universally been with specifically the Stoptech Trophy calipers. And I did assume it was a car problem. Replaced all 4 hubs/wheel bearings first. Then rebuilt the calipers. Then added knockback springs. Then floating rotor hardware. Then I gave up and bought AP's. I'll let you guess which of those steps resulted in a perfectly consistent brake pedal 100% of the time.

Just a public service announcement for anyone as dumb as me trying to be slick and ditching the under dash panels- there is a little bullshit sensor under there. If you leave it unplugged, it will not give you any sound whatsoever, and the USB ports will be useless.

Also, someone asked about rear seat delete nets. I don't have a net, but I have a couple of milk crates and a bungee cord to keep things from sliding all around. I'm going on a short trip to do some gold panning this weekend.

Indeed. FWD honda shifters are my favorite because, well, vtec fanboi and that '00 Si was where I learned to shift fast because it was the only way to keep the damnthing from dropping off the cam. But here's the thing, once I've acclimated to a car I don't think the shifter really ever gets a second thought unless it's seriously broken, or a 1970's 911, or a gated shifter or something wild like that. To me it's one of those showroom fiddles everybody does, like trying out how the door sounds when it closes

This is very confusing for me. I read your feedback on the AP's/Stoptechs and I think ok this guy knows things, but then I read about your thoughts on the 6MT and I think "troll, block this guy" very difficult, quite the quandary

If you like the "gears are for people whose engines aren't big enough" of the M156 you'd love an M157, maybe as a tow vehicle, heh. My wife got 23mpg out of that stupid thing on a highway trip recently. Benz sure does engine the right way. Sorry I thought all the C63's got the "it's not a torque converter it's a WET CLUTCH and therefore VERY SPORT" trans didn't mean to bring up bad memories. The MCT is actually pretty un-objectionable, other than being too fragile to be behind the M157 (huge boost and timing cuts in 1st and 2nd)

I have a terrible brake judder braking from speeds higher than 40 MPH, but nothing below that.

That's not pads deposits, it's something with the suspension right?

Why wouldn't it be pad deposits?
