Edit: found the seller but that same maxon version seems like it's gone. Looks like he's selling a different version now, not too sure.
Most of those ebay cutouts are the same. Just choose one you like and go with it.

update: still working just fine.

if I were to guess, I'd say they average about 4 cycles a day so they've probably had 3000 actuations or more. I'd probably rebuild the electric motor before considering replacing.

Seems most of the kits these days are operated by a fob remote. But I kinda like your OEM-looking solution better haha

I have a wiring question for ya.

So the switch is wired to get power from the cigarette lighter, where is the power for the motors wired from? I imagine any 12v source will do, just curious.

So these finally failed after about 4 years ? My biggest concern now is wondering if the kits being sold now will mount up to the Y-pipe that was welded on.

As for the wiring, it has 3 wires coming out of the control box— one for the switch, one for the power source which was originally a cig lighter adapter, and one going to the motors, which is split with a Y-connector.

The power still goes to the cig lighter socket, but I disassembled the plug and soldered the leads on the underside of the socket so I can still use it from the top.

Clarification: I soldered the wires to the contacts underneath the center console, so there's still room to plug something into the cig lighter, like a phone charger.

Ooooh ok I got it. The cig lighter is the power source for the motors. I thought that was used to power the switch, and the motors tapped into another source like direct to battery or something. Thank you for clearing it up.

I was looking at ebay yesterday and kits are different brand but look the same? I imagine it works? Biggest difference I see is you can activate with a key fob now which is cool.
