Carbon trim for CAE Ultra shifter

My buddy whom is a BMW tech installed the CAE ultra shifter for me this past weekend.

I knew the console would have to be cut to clear the shifter bits so I purchased some really thin carbon panels planning to use them to cover the hole left in the gaiter area since the console will he notched and I would not be using a fabric boot.

I saw some company in Germany selling plastic covers and I thought I Can do that.

Here's the what I came up with and pretty content with the result.

The Carbon may look a little funny in the image since I have not peeled the protective film off it yet.

That looks awful. Send it to someone like Dinmann or Nelson Racing Wheels to have your trim piece redone.

Nah. Pretty sure they'll come up with something similar for substantially more money.

If you look at what others have done without a fabric boot it looks pretty much the same and i gathering most don't even try.

I don't value this more than I've committed anyway.

This is awesome, here is mine that I made. I need to redo it because it wasn't perfect. It took me a long time to get this done so I'm dragging my feet on the 2nd version.

Not to deviate too much from the orig post but I thought about reversing it so I don't have to notch my console. Looks a lot cleaner too!

I need some covering, the alcantara idea looks great! I love the look of the exposed guts but at the same time covering it up might be a good idea now

Reversing it requires so work, right? I thought I saw a thread where you had to take it apart, drill holes and swap stuff around in order to make it work properly.

The alcantara I'm using is more gray than the black such as the Performance wheel and ebrake boot I have. Just a heads up if you were looking into alcantara options. It works well for that piece as it blends in with the console really nicely IMO.

I tried using my old alcantara shift boot, modified it quite a bit (the stitching) and it seems to pop off if I go into reverse lol.

I like the alcantara look, I have the armrest delete, performance elec wheel, ebrake etc.

If you make any more let me know! I'll be happy to purchase
