OP - the conversion would be very expensive and time consuming. Plus, do you or any shop you know familiar enough with such a unique conversion request? If not, even more so you should not do it. Recommend you sell the car, and start a new with a 2013 6MT.

Btw, I had the same reaction to using a DCT for a couple months. I really wanted to like it, but was bored at the end. Although, the DCT is the "better" transmission technically (speed, smoothness, etc. etc.), but it doesn't make me smile as much.

When i test drove the car with DCT before placing my order, it didn't impresse me at all, perhaps, i knew i was going to get bored with it very soon or i am just a stick shift guy. Nonetheless, sure it is a great transmission.

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong here but I seem to recall reading a new DCT is 12k and with the other costs I'm thinking it wouldn't be too surprising to me if I were to hear the cost went toward 20k.

Is the cost of trading in Indonesia going to exceed that?
well considering theres only 1 manual m3 here its impossible for me to trade. to buy a new m3 in indonesia its around 200k usd..

im sure i can resell my dct once the manual tranny is in.

Go manual! Like others have said I test drove the DCT - did nothing for me. I love being driving the stick even if at times i suck with it - it keeps me coming back to learn the sorcery.

if you do it, you'll have to post how they did it. sounds like one unique and interesting mod - maybe the first ever on the forum.

The bottom line this is not a feasible option, beside the fact it would cost a small fortune, trying to find someone who is capable of doing it right will prove near impossible ..there are so many things to go wrong you would be asking for serious trouble.

To be honest, if there are so few M3's available, I suspect the number of knowledgeable techs available to do this kind of work is probably also scarce. Given all the computer work you have to do on top of the mechanical, you need a very experienced shop on board to make this successful.

If you do it on your own, I hope you have a lot of time on your hands and can get in touch with some good techs outside of Indonesia to help (better be great at taking and sending pics! LOL).

You might find it more fruitful to experiment with different driving styles with the DCT to see if you can find a happy medium.

Convince the owner of the manual M3 he needs DCT and swap cars ...

From you sig, it seems you would not have a lot of trouble getting a new manual M3

Well yes I could just buy another one but I'm a car enthusiast and like these kind of things..

The manual m3 was from the first batch of cars so quite old already and I don't really want to swap.

I'm talking to the BMW dealership itself seeing how much it will cost total. If I decide to do it I'll do a write up for all of you guys.

My dealership can do it just adding up costs and seeing what parts are needed.

This was my only car for a while that's why I got dct. Now it's becoming my track car. Being stripped as well soon. I don't use it much so don't mind it being in the shop for a long time.
