dealer left a screw, or something in the driver side knee panel?

the car went in for the blower wire recall. got it back and noticed there is something rolling inside the dash, I can hear it whenever I jerk the car by applying throttle followed by letting off quickly. sounds like a screw or something like that.

from what I can hear, I think it is coming from the knee panel, around the area i'm pointing at in the picture.

feels like when I apply throttle, the object would roll up the knee panel along the contour under the G force, when let off / brake, it rolls back down and hit a divider or something in the panel and make a noise.

is it easy to open it up? would appreciate if someone can point me to a DIY that includes taking off that trim. would like to avoid the hassle of going back to the dealer and go through the whole cycle of dealing with them saying they can't hear it yada yada...

Just take it back, be like it looks like you guys might have left something in the car. It would be considered warranty work from a situation I had with my blower motor being loud

Look a little farther under the dash. There is a panel that holds the light. If I recall correctly there are 2 screws holding it up.

Dang that smart watch is huge! You might want to invest in a screen protector for it before you go taking about the lower panel though! (just kidding)

So frustrating when dealers disappoint. What else was left off? Maybe nothing.

My mom got her X5 back from the dealer with the entire door panel missing once. Nothing surprises me anymore.

Had my pads replaced. Proper piece of weel grease in both(!) front seats. It was the last item on a goodwill list (since they f'td up my DCT) and last visit there. Main BMW dealer in the country, simply can't get anything right.

Ok guys while I don't particularly mind this turning into a dealer hate venting thread (because obviously, we all hate them!), but please also give some suggestions, I need them! thanks ddrust!

I saw 3 or 4 screws further down where the leather from joint with black plastic trim... I guess I will take those out see what can be pulled apart from there?

drivers kick panel comes out easily, 3 or 4 T20 torx. however, keep in mind the blower recall is on the passenger side, nothing is touched on the drivers side

Ah, you haven't even tried yet, okay, yes simply pull mentioned screws and lose the cover. Puzzling what should come lose - did they mix sides up?? - interesting to hear.

I would remove the panel and see if anything drops out. BMW would likely deny breaking anything or leaving screws on the driver side. Blower wiring is on the passenger side but it wouldn't surprise me if they dropped some presents for you, considering I found this pick wedged under my passenger seat when I got my car back for the blower recall.

I opened it up but found nothing. put it back together went for a test drive, the noise is gone though... I know this is anti-climatic, but thanks everyone for replying.

However in the test drive I hit a deep pothole... now the left side shudder a bit in hard breaking... Hope it is just bent rim... F east coast winter roads
