in the past month or so, i have taken off the plenum 4 times ... i've gotten pretty good at it but it's still really annoying process

1st time was to replace the throttle actuators
2nd time was to try to figure out where a knocking noise was coming from (ended up being the ac compressor and pulley)

3rd and 4th times trying to see if this buzzing sound could be coming from something being loose
(and on the 4th time, i took the opportunity to install the stage 2 macht schnell intake with the air scoops and smoother charge pipe)

what is causing this? the noise doesn't start until i have been driving for several minutes and miles
it goes away when i touch the accelerator
it also goes away when i open the hood

It's only fair if we're both supercharged

Received my cable from the current Alex@Alpine group buy and flashed a stage 1 tune...only got about 15 minutes behind the wheel before I had to put the kids to bed, but loving it so far! Bigger difference than I was expecting.

Ordered oil/filter for first post-purchase change, and started a maintenance planning spreadsheet. Next up, order BE bearings and call up the local indie shop!

If you're doing bearings, just hold out till then to do your oil change unless it's months from now

Yup, good call. I'm still trying to decide whether to get the bearings done right away or wait until later in the summer. It's an '08 e90 with 60k miles. Recent oil test was clean and car runs/sounds great.

Well if you're spending the money to get it done anyway then imo do it right away. Have the extra peace in mind

I was nervous and superstitious that my bearings would fail on the way to getting them done (of course not - what would be the odds?). But if you're thinking about it, don't delay. Pull that trigger.

Washed the engine bay today. First time ever on any of my cars. Worked out great. No issues. I didn't apply any trim dressing or anything. Should have taken a photo, though!

Yes! Make sure your struts are in good order or your hood will try to kill you.

I used a pressure washer, not full power, to thoroughly rinse everything. Top to bottom. Then sprayed Super Clean degreaser, diluted 3:1 with water, and agitated with a boar's hair brush, then thoroughly rinse again. I dried with microfibers and then took it for a drive to make sure everything got thoroughly dry in there before calling it a day. Mine wasn't super dirty or anything so I didn't have to put a lot of effort luckily.

Check this guy's channel if you haven't already. Lots of good stuff.

Got off my ass and started working on the next project for the M3:

Fox Red Recaro Sportster CS seats with OEM heating integration (using aftermarket elements)

At one point I seriously regretted attempting this myself. Even with the original attachments on the fox red covers, the fit was sooooo tight. My fingers and hands are incredibly sore this morning from pulling the leather around and snapping those clips back.

But seeing it almost all buttoned up made it worthwhile!

One down, one to go. Then I need to wire the seat modules and heated circuits, and buy the mounts. Thinking of going with Planted or Brey Krauss.

Still need to tighten some areas down, but you get the idea

Who did the seat covers? Were you able to get them done without sending in originals ? Thanks

AMX-Performance in Poland works with all OE Recaro products and can make the covers with original attachments, using OE BMW hides (or any other manufacturer as well). I did not have to send anything in.
