285/35R18 RS4’s

Hi all!

Currently running 265/35/18 RS4 tires on enkei nt03 18x10 et25 wheels

I would like to run wider for my next square set. Are the 285/35r18 doable?

Car is lowered on ST XTA (same spring setup as clubsport) 3deg front camber and 1.8deg on the back

I read they may rub on cars without enough camber. Will I fall in this category?

I've done the RS3 in 285/35-18 all around on 18x10 ET25. Fine in back obviously and I doubt the RS4 would be different but up front it rubbed a lot. I'd expect the RS4 to be worse as I believe the RS4 285 is wider.

Camber doesn't help, as it mainly hits the rear fender liner with the outer tread blocks at about 4 o'clock on the tire if you're looking at it from the side, so tipping the tire over doesn't give you any additional clearance there

So, doable, but your fender liners will take a beating

Will a spacer solve this? it is already needed to clear the strut perch. Did it rub only full lock or while driving?

Spacer = longer lever for tire to pivot around = more rubbage on the fender liner

For what it's worth, I don't think you'll have any of these issues witha 285/30-18 instead of a 285/35-18, but that's a tire Hankook doesn't sell so if you're committed to the hankooks, that's no help

On my car it rubbed in the range of about .75 turn to 1.5 turns of lock aka...the angles you use in tight corners and anytime you're using a lot of lock to catch a slide

I'm running 285/35/18 RS4's squared on 18x10.5 et 25 wheels. My suspension setup is JRZ RS2's, 5" springs with the super thin Hyperco helpers in the front. The fronts used to rub the fender liner at 3/4 lock but that was "self correcting". I run -3.4 in the front and -2.2 in the rear.

I found the specs on the RS3 and it looks like the RS4 is .1" wider but it's also .2" shorter. So there's an extra .1" of fender liner clearance.

The hankooks run real wide. I almost bought 255/40-17's for my 17x10's because they're have basically teh same tread width as 275/40-17 Continentals.

I finally bought them in 275/35, the 285 weren’t available around here in a reasonable time
