TrackSpec Hood vents for E9x M3

Hey Guys I jumped into trying out the brand new Hood Vents for my E92 M3. They are really simple to install. My car sees more track than street so thought this was perfect add, but honestly looks awesome for street as well. Here a little DIY for the install. Finished pictures are the end. Thanks to http://trackspecmotorsports.com/ for such great product and thanks to my buddy @[AriuSen] for telling me about them.

They come complete with instructions, template and hardware needed to install. Well here is how I understood the instruction and added my twist.

Instructions:
1
Tools used:
2

The air saw, I used to cut out the shape of the vents:
3

The grinder, I used to cut the frame support on the inside of the hood. The Vents are really sturdy and add reinforcement back into the hood:
4

The Drill (1/8'' bit), to drill the rivet holes. I added tape so I wouldn't hit the hood or the vents when drilling:
5

The template are spot on and really helpful, they provide a cut and location, the vents are nicely made and look perfect. I measured everything with a laser:
7

Cut the support: (forgot to take a pic before I cut the hood vent holes
9

Cut the hood:
8

Material cut:
10

Install and align the vents, drill the holes:
13

pop rivets: (careful cause the rivet gun jumps back)
14

use the washer on the back side: (repeat till done)
15

Finished Install:
16

Finished look:

Wow their products are really nice! I wonder if they can be convinced to do fender vents for E9x M3.

you would have to get something like a 3mm nut and bolt or smaller to look right

Looks very purposeful! I wonder if the extra cooling is enough to allow you to run supercharged without issues dogbone

Yes, I noted in another thread that I saw the prototype of these installed on an E90 M3. They look fantastic. I definitely will be doing this soon. It's next on my list along with fixing my air intake hose issue.

The potential of a cooler engine bay and maybe a bit of extra front grip from this mod has me very curious. Me and my AIM Solo DL are waiting with great anticipation!!

Alex AriuSen has these installed on his Z4MC and has found a significant improvement on downforce as well as moving heat out.

Yes, I saw his notes. I am quite eager to see the results of this mod myself.

Awhile ago, I actually had talked to Racewerkz about doing custom vents since there weren't any ready-to-go options. He told me to wait because a couple companies were working on it. And now here we are.

(I made them cut my fenders which I noted on my build thread.)

I'm curious as to how these produce downforce? Anyone have any info to share on this?

Evacuating air from under the front end reduces front end lift.

From this picture you can see the vents at least helps in expelling dirt haha.

Jokes aside. It is pretty functional. Trackspec showed me some pictures of them actually testing at the track the places that the hood had the most pressure and it's pretty significant the lift
